Forums - General - South L.A. - No new fast-food outlets

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/29/fast.food.ban.ap/index.html

Apparently the city council voted unanimously to place a one year ban on fast food outlets in a part of L.A. to try and put the people on a diet by encouraging restaurants with healthier food to move in.  I personally think this is ridiculous because you can't force people to do a certain thing such as go on a diet as it is their choice and every single person who is fat except for those with some sort of mental disability chose to be that way so I do not feel sorry for them or think it is anyone but their own fault.

What do you members here at VGChartz think of this?

California politicians get a lot of funding from health food chains and organic farmers.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I had meant that too.  What I mean is you shouldn't try and control what people eat because people are not fat due to the existence of those fast food restaurants.  Maybe they have helped but anyone who is fat it is because of either medical reasons or because they chose to eat an amount and not excersize in a certain amount that ended up with them being fat in most cases.

I think the government has no right to tell private business what it can and can't do like this, they're not our freaking mother, and they shouldn't try to put their citizens on a diet. It's pathetic. Why can't people be allowed make their own decisions??

For those of you that don't know the Southern part of L.A. is host to some of the worst neighborhoods in the whole area. I think they have bigger problems.

I give this thread a 9.3.
