Forums - Sony - Sony likes to shoot themselves on the feet.

What is with Sony.? i mean after every now and then they really like to shoot themselves on the feet.. Just listing last few shots they took at the PS3.. the momen one feel a little sanity from their strategy they make a decission which reminds u that they r still as stupid as they use to be...

1. First they removed 80GB BC model from the market i think around Mar '08 when they themselves acknowledged that it make up 50% of their sale.

2. Then they reintroduced 80GB model but didnot delivered enough in the stock.

3. Then now they made the worst mistake yet again... when they have already seen that for their PS3 there are two very distinct buyer group of their model... one who won't compromise on the Backward compatibility and other who won't pay $500.. and they themselve created these two non-overlapping consumers for PS3... that they have decided to stop 40GB delivery and won't ship 80GB for the whole month... that is crazy... i mean when u discontinue a product u have to drop its price and u have to replace it with a better product at the same time too... just like MS is doing...

I mean r the executives or planners at Sony not even grade 10 pass...

PS2 is still Sony's big moneymaker right now. So keeping BC out of the PS3 isn't so much shooting themselves in the foot as it is coddling the cash cow that they need to get them through the somewhat disappointing performance of PSP and PS3.

It's a strong argument that these decisions aren't good for the consumer, but there's a good case to be made that they're good for Sony.
