@MikeB

So do you get paid to slobber all over sony or is it that you just enjoy waiting 5 years between games. I guess with the amount of cg trailers sony puts out its enough to keep anyone entertained ;)

MS has you guys waiting just aslong for games, Splinter cell, Alan Wake, Huxley, Halo Wars. These games have been touted for over two years now. Plus whatever other games they show or announce then never bring to market.

Oh I agree I think Alan Wake has taken way too long and they announced it too early deflating the hype, although I disagree about Halo Wars. On the other hand I'm not the one touting the hidden power of my console, claiming its as capable as todays cutting edge computers or claiming sales for my console are going to explode and surpass the wii.

Mikeb finds it a neccecaty to constantly remind us how anyday now were going to see the true power of the ps3, I'm still waiting...

you should buy one then mab you can stop waiting? lol games like uncharted, heavenly sword, GT5P, resistance (40 players online) arent matched on the 360... and im only talking about games that was out lol resistance 2 (60) MAG (256!!!!!)

i love my 360 but halo 3 was 16 players tops? and gears was 8? lol its a little funny.

Maybe the 360 is more stocked at retailers than the PS3 in the various regions. This seems to be the case at local dealers for my country.

In any case it's nice to see the PS3 (considering entry pricing) and PS2 (considering market saturation) both outsold the 360 to retail for this period yet again. The PS2 outsold the 360 by many millions of units during Sony's last two fiscal years (about 28 sold to retail in total, almost double). The PS3 also outsold the 360 by more than 1.5 million units for 2007. For the first quarter of 2008 the PS3 also outsold the 360 more than 1 million units to retail.

Combine this with Wii sales the 360 already lost an amazing amount of market share within a short timespan. Like I stated before I think this year will be the final good sales year for the 360. Nearly all major XBox games already received 360 sequels (only the multiplatform Starwars and Fable 2 remaining). Microsoft failed to really capitalize on its entry pricing advantage compared to the PS3, as well as with regard to its 1 year or considerably more headstart for the various markets.

With games truly eyecatching games like God of War 3, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 coming out soon, as well as Playstation Home and greatly improving Blu-Ray penetration I think the 360's long term outlook looks pretty bleak as expected.

Really? do you really think retailers would order more 360's in those months then the PS3's just for fun? Think about it for a second, its not the holidays where retailers are expecting an increase in sales. Retailers are just ordering consoles at the rate they sell. Meaning the 360 has been outselling the PS3 in "Others" which is...  quite a shock...

MS is maybe expecting to sell more console.

But, the console is not selling as they would have wanted ...

Yeah, MS is forcing stores to buy more consoles or else they won't sale them Vista... ... cause we all know how everyone wants the amazing Vista

Wait so now the number of players in a game is directly proportional to the over all quality of that game? Wow I didn't know that, thanks for clearing things up!

Can anyone make sense of this? Did MS really outsell (I should say outship) the PS3 in Q1?

ROFLOL...and more importantly, M$ profits didn't plunge 50%! Doesn't matter if you win the sales battle, if in the end, you end up losing your job because the shareholders are tired of losing money.

Except for the fact they aren't losing money.

you are correct, as I was thinking profit, but mis-typed money.

@ Mikeb...you're kidding me right?  You're actually championing a 50% decrease...alrighty then.

50% decrease over last year.... thats good..... you know spider-man 3 was the biggest (or second) biggest movie of the year and went on to make amost a billion dollars? of course there will be a decrease...... fact is they still made money.....

I don't think investor care a rat's @#$ as to why you see that kind of reduction in profits...it's not a good sign, as capitalism isn't about making money, it's about making MORE money.  You don't get points for making the same profit every year...that's called no growth, and unless your a massive company with massive profits and a monopoly, you're not considering to be doing okay.

Sony stock plunged over 6% as of last check...you think that's good?  WTF world are some of you guys living in?  If PS3 comes in last this holiday season again, I think Stringer is out of a job, and you'll see some shake-up at Sony.

I'm not actually sure the totals are really from the same time period, which would be essential for such a comparison.

Wrong, Sony announces only PS3 that have been Shipped to Retailers.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Aren't you the same person that kept hammering that the 360 sold poorly in February/March because it was out of stock ?

Make up your mind...

Microsoft itself stated they had issue supplying NA market from Jan to March which means they started the quarter in the US with channels close to being empty. Seeing how easilly you can find a 360 now, that is no longer the case, so they clearly sold more to retailers in NA than retailers sold to customers........

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
