Forums - Gaming - Which Soul Calibur 4 pic looks best PS3 vs Xbox360? *Blind test*

You know, you could have made this thread into a funny test. First, you should have chosen pictures that don't give away which version it is. Second, for the first comparison you should have used two 360 screens of a similar scene and for the second comparison you should have used two PS3 screens of a similar scene from a different stage than the two 360 screens before.

It would have been interesting to read what people would have interpreted into these pictures.

Thats mean! Damn Australian...

But I was tempted....

I prefer pic2 for both. I find edges seem smoother. Background objects melded better as part of the environment. Lighting effects also seemed smoother. Pics1 tended to be more jaggy, the light is less smooth, but barely noticeable and objects seem off on the environment.

I don't own either machine but these which system is graphically superior has to stop. It's old.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

"Looks like a 1.5/2 pixel horizontal blur (Xbox360). The better AF suggestion sound plausible too - either that or PS3's ground texture is much lower res"

Thats a snippet explaining the difference from one of beyond 3ds pixel counters. xD

Agree with the floor, could be lower res texture, or the lack of AF, still both set of pics looks good, one with a little bit better AA and the other more bright, thats all... as always minimal differences...

By me:

Made with Blender + LuxRender

Actually it was meant to be a funny test but I failed and didn't see the giveaways in the bottom right corner.

Tp me these look so close, it doesn't matter. What matters in a fighting game, is FPS, and control responsiveness. How do those compare from console to console?

Why is it that in both examples the first images is compressed more?

Example 1, pic 1:
756.17 KB (774322 bytes)

pic 2:
786.41 KB (805281 bytes)

Example2, pic 1:
742.55 KB (760369 bytes)

pic2:
1444.26 KB (1478918 bytes)

Also how do we know that they both had similar cables/screen capture sw/etc?

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

brightness is the only difference. With just an extra few jaggies in the ps3 version, probably because it's slightly sharper. So both look good.

Im starting to hate Rol. :O

Take my love, take my land..

I think 1 looks a bit better, but there is not that much difference apart from brightness
