Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft now receiving 2,500 broken 360s per day in UK alone?

As long as microsoft takes responsibility in the exchange of broken down units, I think they have great after-sales service. Some even manage to get a 1 to 1 exchange after the 1 year warranty.

Wow, 2500 a day... and since Microsoft counts unit replacements as units sold, it should increase the sales numbers by a lot if this is true.

Price drop confirmed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$299.99- 20GB MODEL!!!

$399.99-60GB MODEL

$499.99-80GB MODEL TO BE RELEASED NOV 7 IN THE UK/US

(If this happens the ps3 will win the conole war...)

If the 360 and PS3 were the same price and there were no reliability questions with the 360, I'd buy a 360 tonight.  It has more games that I want (the PS3 doesn't have anything that interests me yet except VF5).  The only thing holding me back from getting a 360 is the reliability question.  I suspect that by the time this is addressed, the console will be cheaper or there will be good rebates again.

I suspect that MS will price cut when Sony does. I don't think they really have to until then. I think they would be better served improving quality rather than cutting price. I get the feeling there are a lot of people like you who are waiting to hear that the problems get addressed. I for one want to upgrade to Elites but am waiting for the new chips, etc. Just my opinion though.

Researched article on XBox 360 failures amongst retailers:
http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=7892

So 33% failure rate currently at EB Games, but in what timeframe exactly? 6 months or 1 year? As the console has been available longer than that I think it's not strange we see higher figures in polls.

We had 35 Xbox 360s at launch I know more than half of them broke within the first six months (red lights or making circles under the game discs). Two of them were dead on arrival.

So that's at least more than 57% failure rate in 6 months for launch units for them, so it would be interesting to know how many were still alive after just 1 year.

Needless to say that's an extra-oridnary high figure!

One often overlooked factor when considering a console purchase is reliability, an area that is becoming apparent where the Xbox 360 falls short.

Most other console systems have a failure rate of less than one percent, including the PlayStation 3

Smarthouse:

In Australia Microsoft refused to return calls on the issue and their PR Company even went as far as saying that there was no problem and that SmartHouse was exaggerating. So we decided to contact retailers selling the Xbox 360. They reported massive problems with the console with several claiming that the return rate was over 30%

As an example the Sony PS2 had a return rate of between 1 & 2% The PS 3 which has only been in the market for 6 months is less than 1%.

So much for some XBox 360 fans FUDding the PS2 (and PS3 initially).
Asian manufacturers of the Xbox 360 who have been pressured by Microsoft to lower costs by as much as 15% say that the problem is caused by poor Microsoft design and the Company buying low cost components

One Asian manufacturer that SmartHouse spoke to on Friday said "Microsoft have known of this problem for a long time. They are trying to blame component manufacturers but it was a combination of bad design and them (Microsoft) wanting everything cheap.

A lot of manufacturers were pushed to deliver components without much testing of the components working together inside the console

Am I the only one why rather have a more expensive sturdy XBox 360?
