Forums - General - Chris Benoit dead?

Vince won't be doing that, seeing as Vince himself has used steroids. How many 60 year old men tear both quads by walking? How many 60 year old men also have arms larger than your legs? He'll be as tough on steroids as he has to be to keep face and avoid lawsuits, but outright banning them means the entire show would be Spanky and Paul London.

By losing 3 months of the year, WWE would be losing 3 months worth of shows and exposure, and for a for profit company, while it makes sense for the workers, for his mind, that's sheer lost money.

Also, while the pay isn't multi million unless your name is recognisable by someone who hasn't watched wrestling in 10 years, most of them make 150-250k/yearly. Hogan and Lesnar I think were the 2 highest paid, Brock because of a bidding war, and Hogan because he's Hogan. Also, travel costs are reimbursed. Wrestlers with financial sense generally are quite well off, though their bodies are absolutely destroyed.

See Ya George.

"He did not die - He passed Away"

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

Around the Network

There could probably be a way to work some stuff around.

Since they have what, 3 shows now? they could stagger the 9 month seasons so that Smackdown could run during RAW's off season. There's also the ECW brand that can cover too for those degenerates who have to watch wrestling.

Of course, all these proposed moves would cut profits by a lot (25%). But I'd take a profit loss if it meant I didn't have to deal with these crazy PR hits from whenever a Chris Benoit snaps and dies.

And I'm not sure about a wrestler's per diem and travel expenses. I've heard that they have to pay for their own travel, which means that 250 k/year would dry up pretty quick. I also read that even an main eventer like Chris Benoit made 500 k a year, which is pretty substantial, but I doubt that guy like Paul London would sniff near that amount.

As far as Steroids are concerned, sure the WWE will have to shift to more of a Cruiserweight Federation, but that's where all those crazy acrobatic stunts are pulled off anyways. And if I were Vince i would be counting my blessings as the feds haven't come in and investigated the whole steroid thing (again! oi) I would clean up the company and at least discourage the use of steroids. the thing Vince has going for him is that his federation is billed as "sports ENTERTAINMENT" so he's getting away with a lot of stuff that *real* sports would never be able to do
