There could probably be a way to work some stuff around.
Since they have what, 3 shows now? they could stagger the 9 month seasons so that Smackdown could run during RAW's off season. There's also the ECW brand that can cover too for those degenerates who have to watch wrestling.
Of course, all these proposed moves would cut profits by a lot (25%). But I'd take a profit loss if it meant I didn't have to deal with these crazy PR hits from whenever a Chris Benoit snaps and dies.
And I'm not sure about a wrestler's per diem and travel expenses. I've heard that they have to pay for their own travel, which means that 250 k/year would dry up pretty quick. I also read that even an main eventer like Chris Benoit made 500 k a year, which is pretty substantial, but I doubt that guy like Paul London would sniff near that amount.
As far as Steroids are concerned, sure the WWE will have to shift to more of a Cruiserweight Federation, but that's where all those crazy acrobatic stunts are pulled off anyways. And if I were Vince i would be counting my blessings as the feds haven't come in and investigated the whole steroid thing (again! oi) I would clean up the company and at least discourage the use of steroids. the thing Vince has going for him is that his federation is billed as "sports ENTERTAINMENT" so he's getting away with a lot of stuff that *real* sports would never be able to do
