I would rather have tyrannical mods than moderate ones. They could go around shooting fanboys in the kneecaps and you wouldn't see me complaining.

Officers HAHAHAHAHAHA XD... Offcers....HAHAHA XD.......

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Just out of curiousity, what do you have to do to become a mod? Im obviously not asking so i can become a mod myself (god forbid) but what?

Are the mods people who know ioi in real life? Or did ioi think they posted well and rewarded them with mod status?

ioi knows most of them.

Stof - his mailman

Ben Kenobi - his left hand (literally)

Sqrl - the head chief of the squirrel colony that lives in his backyard. Was mutated by laser swords.

Naznatipz - his lawyer

Bodestva - a random cat who sometimes wanders his house.

Twesterm - the guy who works at the local nacho store.

Fishy Joe - random guy who drops by with popcorn.

Rocketpig - the pig that lived at his childhood farm

Talon Man - the flying man who carried him to his late holiday

Mrstickball - his childhood friend. Now stuck in a stickball machine.

Montana Hatchet - a dog who ate his Wii. ioi locked him into a game, and now he needs to get 10K posts to get out.

You know, the easiest way not to get banned or have your threads locked is to 1. respond to the topic, 2. supporting your outrageous claims and 3. not flaming/trolling the people/thread.

Actually, I'm more likely to lock this thread because of the annoying caps lock paragraph at the beginning than a dislike of the topic. I don't really care if people discuss this stuff to be honest.

Although I must agree with Montana, these threads inevitably oversimplify every example situation that is brought up. Often times members are unaware of information that the mods have and sometimes its just because people like to remember the situation in the most favorable light for themselves. Just ask any prison inmate if he is guilty and chances are he will explain how he was wrongly accused, framed, and then wrongly convicted...hell if you go by the criminal's account of events we have a prison system full of 99% innocent people, and justice system jokes aside that is obviously not true.

Unlike a normal member when a moderator sees someone make a questionable comment we don't get to just scroll past and have a nice day. No, moderators have to open the person's post history read through recent posts, look up their ban & warning history and read through it, and then make a determination of whether or not its an actionable offense.

And if that wasn't enough when we ban someone we have to figure out a way to best convey all of this information inside of a 1 or 2 sentence blurb (preferably along with post IDs and thread IDs) for the ban note. Then finally we go make a note of the infraction for other mods to see in case of future problems. And if that wasn't enough we also have to deal with complaints and bitching from people who think they are above the rules and can't believe that we would punish them because [insert lame reason].

In short, its a job. And I'm confident I speak for all of the mods when I say we would appreciate it if you guys would please just give us the benefit of the doubt. Contrary to paranoid logic the mods aren't out to get anyone who doesn't deserve it, and as many have echoed in this thread if anything we are a bit to lenient on people by issuing warnings to begin with. Most sites just ban without warning and usually for substantially longer periods of time.

Is it sad that this is exactly what I expected a mods job to be? I'm just glad that the mods on this site are responsible enough to do this, and with consistency to boot!

This is the best managed forum I have ever been on. I'm not kissing ass, I'm just grateful for the job these people do everyday. Thanks.
