Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii to be Nintendo's last Console?!?!

Yeah... I seem to remember an EGM from 2 years ago maybe?? Pikmin 2 hadn't come out yet and they were showing screen shots from it and future games and talking about 128 Marios?? I believe... They asked them about that game I think and the reply was if I have nothing to show you at E3 this year then I'd consider a failure on my part... Something to that effect. Anyway they went on to ask this person(Creator of Mario I believe) That if Nintendo quit making hardware would they continue producing software?? To which he replied No. If Nintendo quits making Hardware then they are out of the videogame race all together. I also remember them saying the DS would not be the replacement of the GBA and that they'd still support the GBA. They stopped for the most part after the launch of the DS. (Not surprisingly)

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

Wish I could find my EGM's from that time though.

@konnichiwa - Oh, you said almost. Almost, except for most to all of their big games. My bad.

And GOW maybe (maybe) looks more "realistic" than Zelda and Metroid in some ways (blood, I'm not sure how much else). But "detail" is something else. Compare development times, budgets and staff size, then toss in Nintendo's perfectionist philosophy. Then move on.

I just want to say that the style of many Nintendo games are not detailed.

Uhm like Mario.. If Mario jumps into the water and he comes out of the water you don't see thousands/millions of hairs who are wet or even clothes who are wet.   That is typical Nintendo they don't use it the most of the times.

Hmmm Metroid Prime is also from Nintendo?  Isn't it an American company or am I wrong?

Retro Studios produces Metroid and are owned by Nintendo ...

Beyond that I doubt you've ever played Nintendo's games because (typically) when someone runs in the sand or jumps out of water you see their footprints; if I remember correctly, in Mario Sunshine you'd get gunk on yourself which went away if you jumped into water. Nintendo games are full of thousands of little details which people rarely notice.

Aren't all games full of thousands of details which people rarely notice? All well made ones at least...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Yes.. But it's just a given fact that Nintendo is known for polishing their games (Which is essentialy a part of why their games get good reviews most of the time...) For instance: The footprints you leave behind when u walk out of the water in Super mario Sunshine are a good example. Or the paint that makes Mario dirty when ur cleaning up on that tropical island (Darn... Forgot the name of that cursed volcanic island... Delfano Island or something?!)...

maybe they quit it and make mario rpg (dnd style) and donkey kong boardgames ;)

but i'll guess its just crap that nintendo would quit.

or they make an console with sega togehte. that would be interesting i think.

I would love a Mario FPS.

Thats would be a riot. It wouldn't be a bad idea. A totally fantasy shooter. Be awesome. Mario weapons. MADNESS

Basiclly, when you come here late, all you have to say is "BRAWK, Nintendo will stay in consoles forever. BRAWK they make money on their home consoles"

I take a quote from Iwata San.

'The day we stop making consoles is the day we drop out of the industry altogether.'

and i don't see any chance of that at the moment.

If Nintendo drops out of the game industry, I quit gaming, it's easy as that. Then there's not much fun left for me to game any longer.

I'd be pretty disappointed if Nintendo left the biz, but I'd never quit gaming. Do you really only play Nintendo games? No third party games?

Rofl, you compared a game at the beginning of a generation to the end of the generation.    You looked pretty hard to find the lowest resolution shot of super mario sunshine you could.  I can do the same :)

Oh... look at that, who would have thought a game made 4 years later looks better *rolls eyes.*  Nintendo puts a lot of effort and polish into their games.  They do have  a perfectionist policy, and they don't tolerate mistakes.  There are very few developers who take that attitude in making their games.  The only others that I know of are Valve and Blizzard.  So, I'm not saying Sony games are bad, but they do not have the commitment to perfection that Nintendo does.
