Forums - Sony - Sony PS3 80 gig MGS4 bundle in stock in Amazon

Seeing as how, when Wii's are in stock, it is assumed that demand has fallen, I don't see why everyone is giving the 80gb a pass here, and simply assuming it must have been a monumental shipment. It could just be that they aren't selling through as fast as everyone had hoped. They certainly aren't selling as fast as the Wii or they wouldn't have been in stock for 10 minutes, much less 3 days.

If that were true it wouldn't have stayed at #3 this entire time.

Not so. It's a common belief on this forum that Amazon isn't a good source of demand of a product, but instead only an indication of the availibility.

Even if I were to concede that Amazon was a perfect indication of demand, that would make no difference in the context of my original argument, since when people say the Wii demand has falled because of availability, it still always manages to be in a top spot on Amazon. Therefore, the PS3 should be subject to the same scruitany.

That said, the 80gb is under Wii Fit and above MK:Wii, which has been out for many, many weeks, making the number 3 spot have a very wide range of possibility, assuming it accurately measured demand, seeing as how the Wii is at least 20 times more popular than MK:Wii, which would be a fair assumptions, imo. Where, in that large gap, the PS3 falls, is indeterimable.

Nice job going off-topic Zen.

Grade-A job.

Wrong, the topic is only presented as information that 80gb PS3's are in stock and not sold out from Amazon.com

Most people spun it as good news for the bundle(thought I don't see how).

If Wii's were suddenly in stock on Amazon for 3 days, how do you think that information would be percieved? As a victory for the Wii?

I simply presented a different point of view(not an opinion, mind you, just an observation). If you look at the topic, you'll see that I, more than most, am completely on subject.

Amazon actually doesn't do an enormous volume of video games. For example, check how a bargain title will shoot to the top of the list and then sell 3k nationwide for the week according to VGC.

So it doesn't take that many units to move on their best seller charts as they are updated hourly. A quick rush can move it spots for a few hours and then it drops into oblivion.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

DMeisterJ got owned.

@freebird4, there are always NPD numbers to prove otherwise.))

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Yea, it seems strange that there is big supply issues yet it is in stock at Amazon.
