Forums - Gaming - ps2 or wii?

Ps2 has the greatest games made alot more which are better then what the wii offers. It has a huge collection to choose from and the same graphics as the wii with a lower price. Motion Senser is useless if you got a sixaxis you would know this same with that wii controller. I hate the WII. Its just another gamecube with a different control people face it.

@BOlded Lol So funny.

@Red So Six Axis has tilt and that makes it the same as the wiimote?

true, which is why i'm undecided, the ps2 is tried and tested with the best game library on any console out today. there are still probably dozens of good games on it that i haven't played yet. though i'm pretty sure that i've played most of the best ones (final fantasy, kingdom hearts, shadow heart, mgs, gt, gta, etc etc).

the wii on the other hand, is the undisputed leader this gen and will most obviously attract many many many 3rd party games. so i can see the potential, and have no doubt that the games will come, the only question is when

@Jo21
true, quality>quantity, but ps2=quality + quantity, wii=quality + quantity of shovelware (so i've heard)

While the wii has alot of shovelware so does the ps2. Shovelware is easy to ignore though. I think you should get a ps2 first though. Then once the wii has a massive library of games, get it.

true, the ps2 and the ps1 probably have the most shovelware ever.
i believe there's even an adult rock, paper scissors game on the ps1.

@Ils yeah and do you know that Ninja Bread Man is really a PS2 port? http://www.amazon.co.uk/METRO-3D-Ninja-Breadman-PS2/dp/B000A432B0
The ps2 still has great games though, just like the wii. So I don't know why people would use Shovelware as an argument against not getting a wii, but having a ps2. They are both excellent systems, even though they do get alot of crap games along with the good ones. I say get a ps2 though since right now it has many many more good games than the wii, but if you already played and beaten all of those games then just get a used ps2 and save up for the wii. Have you ever owned a nintendo console? If not then the wii and virtual console add alot of new game experiences. ALso there are many good gamecube games. So the choice is really hard. Find a like new used ps2 for about half price, and then save up for a wii. There is the DRE problem though, but I think the slim models got rid of it, so used is really a good way to go.

well, i did own a nintendo family com (nes), snes, gb and gba. i then went the sony route with psone and ps2 and ps3. not that i dont like nintendo, just that the ps1 and ps2 just had more (a truckload) games that i liked.

if i had more money (an unlimited supply), i'd have no problem choosing as i'd just buy both. but meh...booo for me.

^ Well then you missed out on alot in the N64 and GC days. So a Wii would have alot of games to play. Maybe you should borrow a wii from somebody or try out some games at game stores before deciding if you want one or not. The wii right now isn't for everyone, but in the future probably will be in the same way as the DS. Actually i recommend getting a ds and a ps2 then save up for a wii. The DS has a much larger library imo.

^i did own a ds, it went like this
buy psp, see ds and go WOW! sell psp, buy ds, then meh....sell ds, buy psp, then meh, trade psp to ps3.
borrowing isnt an option, no one here leds out their consoles O_O

Lol, well I hope you find a decision soon. Whichever way you go you can't lose.
