If your PS3 is Backwards compatible you would have no need for a PS2.

Considering your choices, I think you'd like Tales of Symphonia 2 for it a lot. On the other hand, the PS2 is also a good choice, but I'm assuming you've already played all the games you listed since you said you owned a PS2 before. The question lies in whether you want to replay old classics that you've learned to love, or take a step into some new games that you've never tried before. |
well, i sold my ps2 before i could play ffxii so i'm looking to play that, and your spot on, i have played through all the games i listed.
and the wii does offer a new experience. if i'm not mistaken, it can play gc games right? i owned a ps2 and still own an xbox...well srot off, i lent it to my brother-in-law. and there are games on the gc worth playing if i'm not mistaken.
though, i'm quite histant as i'm not quite sure what the future would bring for the wii.
Well if you are a true Sony fan boy you would only buy Sony consoles and never buy Nintendo consoles.
RPG's: Fire Emblem is already there, this holiday you can play Tales of Symphonia 2 and Little King's Story, in 2009 Fragile, Arc Rise Fantasia, Final Fantasy CC and if it reaches the West Oboro Muramasa. And I'm sure more will come.
Action/Adventure: RE4, No More Heroes, Okami, Zack and Wiki. Coming: MadWorld, The Conduit
Nintendo: Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Brawl, Kart
Virtual Console: (this is THE best feature of Wii) dozens and dozens of NES/SNES/N64/Mega Drive/NeoGeo etc games!
You probably never owned a Gamecube, so you can play REmake (best Resident Evil ever), Eternal Darkness, Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos, RE0, WindWaker.
I think a Wii offers great value next to a PS3. It gets a lot of exclusives.
Edit: you're not sure what the future will bring for Wii: well, since it's steaming for 50% marketshare and beyond you can be assured that more and more games will come to Wii. Best thing, most of these will be exclusive.
remember that while the PS2 does have a fantastic library of games, there will be few more released. You have already played a lot of the games on there and buying it now won't be a very useful purchase since you'll have few new games and mainly replaying old games.
A Wii, however, has a very bright future of games to look forward to.
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

PS2. 2nd best console this generation, the first being the PS3.
Goes to show what a great console the PS2 is, it is still competing this generation.
MGS4!

I agree, however I have no desire to play any of them. I have a Wii, got SMG when I got the console, played half way though it, and have not bought another game (other then WiiFit). I have not turned it on in two months.
The point of this, is it's only a fun system, if what it does is fun for you. If you love PS2 games, and are excited about them, and are not dying to own a Wii, I would probably go the PS2 route.
If Zelda, MP, Mario, SSBB, and MK seem like something you really want to play, there is more of a future with the Wii.
