MS didn't buy jack, at least not to that extent. Don't consider the PC a Microsoft machine unless it's a Windows Live game...there's no exclusivity other than what Bioware and EA decide.

In the platform realm, Mass Effect is exclusive to 360...unless PS3 and Wii find a way to play PC games...lol.
