Forums - Gaming - Debunking the myth that the Box360 > PS3, The real work proves PS3 > 360

Way before the PS3 was released there were tons of articles in the internet ,made up by some autoproclaimed development gurus ,to prove the X360 was equal or better that the PS3.Most of those ,a couple of wich were taken as articles of faith by boxers to the point it was always linked and cited as a source ,were based on suppositions such as the RSX being a 7800GS (when it would be more akin to a 7950GX and better optimised due to the closed architecture) and made groos mistakes.

Both are great systems....for what I am seeing I would say the PS3 has some edge ,though. The BR gives space for tons of music and graphics and in some games as MGS4 it shows. The extra processing power is used for more objects and enemies in screen at once and better post-processing effects. The 360 seems to have some better AA in some games ,as always when comparing a Nvidia and Ati card ...but hardly noticeable for anyone other that a fanboy with magnifying glasses. And until the developers started to stream the textures on the PS3 games it still had some benefit due to the lower usage of memory of its OS(even with the shrinked use on the PS3 it still uses some 20MB more tha t the 360 OS).I think the first batch of multiplattform games when the 360 version was sometimes better is long gone, most multi games look the same or better on the PS3 although some direct ports from the 360 still look better on the 360 as it would be expected to happen. All in all I think some exclusive pS3 games as MGS4 ,Heavenly Sword ,Gran Turismo 5 Prologue ,Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank dont have an opponent of the same exact level on MS console. But ,both consoles are capable of very impressive displays of power.

The difference in graphics and performance is not distinguishable, and opinion. FFXIII was a BR talking point for years, and now it's on DVD9 as well.

The difference is entirely opinion, and anyone trying to argue that the PS3 is somehow provably better in the graphics department is probably a fanboy that's been sipping the Sony cool-aid for too long, or a misguided or misinformed poster.

Some of the best looking and smoothest games, like CoD4, GRiD, and Assassin's Creed, are virtually identical. The difference in performance between Gears of War and Uncharted is arguable, and if MGS4 comes to 360, I'd be willing to bet that the visuals again, will be virtually identical.

Substandard PS3 ports in the past have largely been due to poor understanding and difficulty development inherant to the system. Madden 08 at 30 fps on the PS3, for example. FEAR is another one. Now that these developers see how to better develop on the PS3, it is likely that these ports will fall in line as relatively equal.

The difference between the PS3 and 360 is similar to the difference between the Gamecube and the Xbox. Impossible to justify an opinion one way or another without going into unnecessarily long cherrypicked hardware specifications. The Gamecube RE4 verses Xbox version Doom 3 argument, for instance. It's an opinion. The games look just as good. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you didn't already know it. It's perception that forms your opinion, not anything that is tangable.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
