According to this GamesRadar piece, Xbox 360 has the best games in all but one genre compared to Wii and PS3.

The 360 has been out just under twice the time the PS3 and Wii has but just higher scores on those charts.

I expected better things from a one year head start.

Two things.

First, I was amazed that the Wii fared as well as it did, since we hear so many people decry the quality of its games (it really was not too terribly different than the PS3).

Second, footnote 4 in the story helps explain the situation:
4) The consoles have had different lengths of time on the shelves. Not only does that mean 360 has more games available than PS3, but also that the old games are just that - old. If something scored 85 on its release, it stays at 85 unless new reviews are added. If that exact same game were released today on PS3, it may look outdated already, so that has to be taken into consideration.

In other words, the site hypothesizes that the Xbox 360 has a built in advantage because its games did not have any current generation competitionfor a year and may have received higher scores as a result.

 I think the headstart thing is old hat at this stage.

 

all 3 consoles have been out long enough to have there act together.

after all this is sonys third machine.
