"You are only responding to the trolls in this thread. Did you read any of my posts or my OP?"
I'm sorry. I've been out with friends and drinking so I may not be 100% great with reading every reply. Which I concede is annoying, becuase that generally drives me crazy.
"Last time I checked, TV sitcoms portray men as bumbling idiots who need there wives"
My point is that it's presented as FUNNY that there are bumbling but the humour where the wives are concerned is generally aimed at how 'naggy' they are at the men. My point is that, aside from Rosanne (who, as I said, was widely criticized) SOOOO often it's not considered a big deal that these 'funny' men would be considered horrible monsters if they were portrayed by women.
"But it doesn't matter it is a tv show and a video game. My mother is able to decide what she wants to watch and play. You're daughter probably has real women in her life to be role models."
Yup. True. But a couple role models compared to the constant onslaught of pop culture? I mean... this isn't just me wah wah wahing. There's lots of stuff that documents how pop culture is shaping what people feel like they need to BE. (for women AND men)
"However, real feminism and real movements for equality (whether religious or racial) don't waste their time on these little issues. They spend time in communities teaching and helping. Not bitching and moaning like the lady who wrote this or the idiots here making jokes about it."
The problem is, as far as I see it, is that these "little issues" are so pervasive that they SEEM insignificant until it's realized just how pervasive they are.
