If someone argues that Nintendo is not producing enough “Core” games for the Wii this holiday season, and seems to be focusing more on the “Casual” market many Nintendo fans will agree with you

-snip-

If you argue that Wii owners are not real gamers, and none of their favourite games are deep, meaningful or challenging, you should expect an argument

Well said.

Pristine, it's the equivalent of me complaining to you that I wish Sony would release Home, KZ2, and GT5 earlier vs. me trolling by coming in and yelling that the PS3 has no games and it's just a BR player and you aren't a real gamer without a Wii.

Civil arguments are welcome.  Like I pointed out earlier, gamers can argue and discuss, fanboys come in looking for people to agree and will relentlessly attack without considering the other side's arguments.

"While I don't approve of madkiller's method of discussion, I agree with him on one point: it sure seems like nintendo fans are unable to see any single fault in the company."

No one criticizes Nintendo more than Nintendo fans. In fact, most of this blowup is from Nintendo fans. So don't even start.

How come no one ever blames the HD consoles for raising game budgets to unsustainable levels? A couple generations ago there was far more to gaming than FPS and cinematic experiences. Now, however, some people seem to think that's what's owed to them? I'll happily continue to have fun with my Wii, thank-you.

Unsustainable level ?

Seems to me the only gaming companies that are having problems are those that put out really shitties games. Most of the gaming companies that produced decent games are doing fine...

Stop blaming HD-consoles for killing the industry when the financials numbers quarter over quarter show that it has never been in better shape as now....( every segment, be it the Wii, the HD-consoles, the old PS2 or the PC is doing better than expected in term of sales).

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Well if you believe that then would you also agree that the Wii is in fact not "destroying" the industry?

Perhaps I missunderstood your position but I thought you were among those who believe that. My apologise if I was wrong.

I agree that really bad rushed games are sometimes the problem why certain developers/publishers find themselves losing money but the initial investment for a big AAA title is much larger on HD consoles than the Wii.  This'll hurt the smaller devs and some of the best ideas come from indy guys hungry to break out.

XBLA and PSN games will help but if they want to make a more ambitious game that needs to be a full retail title they might struggle to get off the ground.

Even though my sig blatantly states that I'm a fanboy, I'm pretty reasonable. Personally I don't care about home or GT5, but you can't argue with the fact that sony is putting a huge effort into caring for their base even if it means delays to make things perfect. Their 1st party effort is unrivaled even with the cost! They're introducing new IPS left and right and bringing back fan favorites. Not so much nintendo. What new IPs have appeared on the wii? Wii sports and wii fit? It just seems like they're keeping the hardcore by tossing a pikimin here and there while pandering tirelessly to casuals. I guess I don't really blame them though, it works well for the business!
