Forums - Nintendo - gamecube controller and classic controller banned?

thats what Nintendo get for venturing where no other console manufacture has ventured before

Around the Network

Judges r assholes. Nintendo might have copied, but how amusing to see everyone else who copied Nintendo got in trouble also. Are those patent pictures of Nintendos design patents or the plaintifs?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

According to the latest update (same URL as in the OP), Nintendo plans to appeal and post bond as required ... so the Classic Controllers will remain on sale. (As if anyone doubted it, which is why I bought one today).

One thing I don't get is how did Nintendo "clog the channel" when there are plenty of third party GC controlers out there -- both wired and wireless (I have three wireless third-party controllers -- and five Wavebirds. I bought the third-party items because they had rumble.

With the patents this person has, with Sony licensing and Microsoft settling, I am not sure if Nintendo is being stubborn or wants to call a troll a troll. In the early days of video games, Mattel lost a suit to Magnovox over the concept of video games (ironically, Nintendo would later challenge that pioneer patent as well and lose).

Of course, Nintendo also won a trademark suit over Donkey Kong with Universal Studios -- by showing that King Kong had fallen into the public domain. (Universal claimed Donkey Kong infringed on King Kong, but it turned out it did not own the latter any longer).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
