well while I agree with the arguments.... I have to say that they don't have the choice.... if MSFT wants to stay alive for the next generation of technology they can't just be on PC.... Bill said it years ago the future is in the mobile communication and the living room....

now you obviously put Wii in the mix when you talk about 1st and 2nd and profitability etc..... the thing is Nintendo is in a totally different ball game... they actually do a gaming platform... and will probably never change from that or at least not in the near future..... but MS and Sony are not only looking at that but at the entire media library you have in the living room with MS seriously looking at moving the PC from the office to the family friendly place in the house....

for an MSFT investor not pushing XB... is completely suicidal for the entire company..... at least on the non professional market for now... they can't survive with vista office and couple other software... (i'm condensing here but you get the picture, we are entering a new era in the IT/IS world, who ever miss the train will be left behind)

did you not watch the same e3 press conference as me? they are working on adding other functanality to the ds. Talked about how the Seattle Mariners allow fans to see the in game box score and pitch track from their ds during the game and wanting to make it so that you can have a cook book in your ds and showing you airport maps to find your gate faster etc.

yeah I was talking exclusively of home console..... I should have precise that.... I was talking about the Wii.... nintendo is the king of hendheld and will stay for a while.... they just need to have a cell phone option and they are good to take over the world lol :P

I think Nintendo is doing what it should do. Focus on what they do best - games.

They are not trying to add this or that, and take over or participate in another business or industry.

If you are focused and specialized and good at what you do, then your company will do well.

It's amazing how many ridiculous posts we're seeing since the FF13 announcement.

I'm not sure what you mean by ridiculous.  Care to clarify?

The truth = Ridiculous.

I don't think I've made any ridiculous claims in the original post :)

@ celine

Actually, I don't know for sure. It is actually 14.74 million PS3 at the end of Mar 2008,
then another 2.0(*) million guesstimate for the quarter ending Jun 2008

Great post again, Bumidan... I do find it interesting the acceptance of people in THIS post but when you posted similar type of analysis that didn't say nice things about sony, you were a troll. Nice. Regardless, I agree completely but I think their continued struggle is primarily quality control costs. If they had a solid build the first go-round, they wouldn't have spent as much on the "periphery" to R&D the cause, fixes, etc. I know they are on their 3rd or 4th DVD drive and so on. They have spent way too much time addressing the RROD problem when they should have been focusing on cost reduction on the motherboard... Long term I don't see the current Xbox platform making enough money to A)capture back the billions lost and B)Set them up in the black for a next-gen launch. Maybe they are hoping to hang in there long enough until Media Center and HTPCs have taken over the living room and then the Xbox can go away as it won't be needed any more. (given that most HTPCs are running a Microsoft OS)

I hate trolls.
