Forums - Sony - Worth getting a PS3 just for MGS4?

New here I just want to know if its worth getting the PS3 just for MGS4 alone. I got a wii and have access to my brother's modded xbox360. Only thing is that only FF13 is another PS3 game that I will get since I am not into FPS, sports and racers for a HD console as I have a gaming rig. So is it worth to get it just for one game or just rent a PS3 to finish the game?

Long Answer: You either get MGS4 or you don't, if you have to ask the question then you probably don't

It's never worth it for just one game, but then again, PS3 has more than 1 good games.

How about Uncharted? or Heavenly Sword? or R&C? Games you will never get on PC.

Still though, depends what's worth to you

lol...modding an xbox and talking about it on a gamer forum. Not wise...

Otherwise I did the same thing, I got the PS3 for mgs4...and sold it last week.

It will be a while till killzone 2 comes out...and there may be a pricecut in the meantime so selling it was wise considering Killzone 2 and maybe resistance 2 are the only games that interest me in the ps3s game lineup for the next year.

Depends if you have a 360 or not yet. Yes if you dont.

No if its just for MGS4 alone, but there are plenty of games that are out and that are coming out that fill your requirements for every genre. Fighting, SHOOTERS, RPG's, Racing, platoformers, MMO's, etc. It's definitely worth the purchase, but I wouldn't recommend spending $399 EVER just for one game. Thats crazy.

If there was one game to spend that much money on though, it would be MGS4

If I was you I just would wait, it must be strange that you would not like any other game on it and if you wait some time there will be new pricecuts, new games that interest you etc..

I am not really into those games but I am just crazy fan of MGS4 so I was thinking of getting the limited edition then sell it after I am finish with the game but dunno its worth since I spend most of my time on my PC and only a few hours on consoles.

If you are a die-hard MGS fan, it might be worth it to you if you are wanting some of the other features on the PS3 such as Blu-ray or some of the other games. If you aren't familiar with the MGS storyline or gameplay, you might not want to pull the trigger. I went into MGS knowing very little about the game and found it boring and uninspired. As DmeisterJ said, "It's fan service through and through". I'm not a fan and it did nothing for me though clearly the production efforts that went into the game are impressive.



I hate trolls.

If $399 isn't such a big hit to your wallet, I say go for it. MGS4 is an amazing game and well worth it. Otherwise, if you can hold off on playing it and are waiting for FFXIII, then hold off until then. They'll be some kinda deal when that comes around, even though it will be a long while.
