Yes, it informs you that the power brick is, indeed, plugged in. When the box is on, it will glow green. When the box is off, it will glow orange. It's just ... a power indicator.

lol sorry if the question seemed ridiculous, it is my first 360 and none of my other consoles have a light on the brick (or at leat I'm pretty sure). Thanks for the help.
