Hardware-wise, FFXIII will fail to move large numbers of extra units post-release, just as MGS4, Halo 3, GTA4, and other games have. That's just now how HD console sales work.

 

 You do realise in a years time (or however long it takes FF13 to be released) the PS3 and 360 userbases will be almost identical

at first i thought this was a thread about how many consoles this game will move for xb360 vs ps3. the easy answer would be ps3 since it's an exclusive in japan.

otherwise, the only other good point here is that owners for both systems will probably get the ps3 version because of the disk issue.

there won't be exclusive downloadable content for the xb360 like there was for gta4 because japan will be ps3 exclusive. i don't think there's any chance that square-enix will ignore their home base.

The Xbox 360 not getting the chance to sell in Japan is like asking a boxer to fight with one of his hands tied behind his back.

I mean, would you expect Grand Theft Auto on PS3 to sell as well as the X360 version if it never got released in PAL on X360?

The PS3 will have a sizable lead over the 360 in others by then, and it will be a lot closer to the 360 in America. All this combined with the fact that the PS3 version is exclusive in Japan, there is really no way you can say the 360 version will win.

PS3 - It will be a close race if there is uber Live content that is exclusive to Microsoft. Other than that I can't see it selling more units.

Square Enix said both versions will be exactly the same with the exception of the discs.

PS3 version of course. By that time PS3 will have bigger install base than 360.

Eh you know that the 360 doesn't exist in Japan and FFXIII will be exclusive there for PS3? So this is not even a question.
