Forums - Nintendo - I think i want a handheld...Why choose the DS?

Daigasso! Band Bros. is the greatest rhythm game ever made.

Backwards compatibility with all GBA games.

Cheaper. Smaller. Lighter.

More games.

More third party support.

More people have it, so you're more likely to bump into somebody on a bus or train who can battle you.

Touchscreen controls for unique games like Kirby: Canvas Curse, Elektroplankton, Brain Age, Trauma Center, Elite Beat Agents, and more that can't be copied on any other system.

Great games, unique features that prevent it from being a handheld version of a console i.e. PSP, great third party support

That's funny, because I want my handheld to be a copy of my console. If I could get my PS3 games in my hand, on the road, I would love that!

Wait, I can.. I just need a PSP and remote play ;)

nothing makes it better, just different.

and which ever system you get, make sure you get puzzle quest.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

A handheld that is a copy of a console is boring compared to a handheld that has features that consoles could never have.  Many developers would agree with me.

From your profile you have alot of RPG's so I would say DS there are to many D:

Former something....

DS. Has the biggest "kick-ass" game collection. and a great control interface

76 million DS owners would agree with you as well. However, 36 million PSP owners would not. It all depends on where Mr Bubbles stands on gaming, to determine what's best for him. You, not I, can give a "right" answer.

I happen to be the 30% or so that would love a PS3/360 in the palm of my hand :)

For me it's all about RPG's, so it's (including those coming out)

  • Jeanne D'arc
  • Crisis Core:FF7
  • Disgaea: AoD
  • Final Fantasy: Dissidia
  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
  • Brave Story: New Traveller
  • Star Ocean: First Departure
  • Star Ocean: Second Evolution
  • Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
  • Final Fantasy Tactics: WotL
  • Tales of the New World: Radiant Mythology
  • Valhalla Knights (Although, the response to this is pretty mixed, it seems critics liked it a lot less then I did)
  • Valhall Knights 2 - What I said above potentially applies to this as well

vs

  • FF3
  • FF4
  • FFCC: Ring of Fates
  • FFXII: Revenant Wings
  • Chrono Trigger DS
  • The World Ends with You
  • Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled
  • DQIV Remake (and I assume V and VI eventually)
  • DQIX
  • Valkyrie Profile: The Chosen One (I think that's what it's called)
  • Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood
  • Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

Am I missing any? (obviously bad games need not apply)

The DS is better in every aspect save for eye candy and multimedia features. In the end all you have to do is chose the handheld with the games you like the most.
