Forums - Sony - I think i want a handheld....Why choose a PSP?

If you like RPGs get a DS.

If you like the PS2 staples like God of War, Metal Gear etc., get a PSP.

PSP has a better game selection, in my opinion, with games like:

Lumines
LocoRoco
Patapon
GTA: LBS and VCS
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Wipeout Pulse
Burnout Dominator
Sega Genesis Collection
Dungeon Seige: Throne of Agony

And more.

It also is great for movies, you can easily download them onto your computer and put them on your PSP. Also with the new PS3 download service, you can buy a movie for your PS3 and also copy it onto the PSP.

You can also upload music onto it, making it a very effecient MP3 player.

trust me, you will get bored of your psp like i did.
all i do is listen to music.

id get a DS

I have NEVER played a DS....But I bought  a PSP when they were released a few years back and sold it because of no good games...

Recently bought a new one, around 6-7 months ago...Haven't really used it...

I distinctly remember enjoying PoPoLoCrois...fun little RPG...

But I just find all the games on it quite BORING, the RPGs are nearly all STRATEGY RPGs!!! Which aren't exactly renowned for theirs stories so kinda defeats the object for me...

Graphics, nothing special...Sceen? Again nothing special, 3-4 years ago it impressed me more though :)

if you like nintendo games get a ds, if you don't like them then you are probably better with a psp

if you look at what sells good on ds then thats dominated heavy by nintendo,  if this page is right then the top ten sellers and 18 out of the top 20 sellers on ds are from nintendo. even whole top 50 is dominated very heavy by nintendo.

not saying that there are no other good titles, but for most other games you can either get a psp version or something compareable on psp too.

The PSP is a great little gadget. Really that's the best way to describe it, because it does so much, is so small, and really is so stylish.

I've had my one since about 3 months after it first released and i can honestly say i use it everyday - i don't even know how long that is..! but it's worked so well, and i've never had a problem with it.

I watch movies on it, listen to music when out and about, surf the internet when in Wi-Fi hot zones, stick the sony memory card from my camera in it to view my pics, and you'll never guess what... i even play games on it!

and the games have gotten so much better. the first time in played God of War on it, i couldn't believe the clarity of the picture and the quality of the game play. This little machine gives so much.

I'm also really interested in getting the new slimline model for the extra features, and slim size. the ability to plug it into a normal TV to watch movies on is a big bonus, especially since i travel quite a bit.

the increased battery life would also be a bonus, but it's pretty good as it is, i can use mine for a couple before recharging, but i usually stick it to recharge overnight.

i wish it had a touch screen, because i like the look of the brain training games on the NDS, but appart from that, i think the PSP has it all.

[Edit] FPSs are a problem on the console with the lack of the second analogue stick, i think this was a massive oversight and would have helped the system so much, but developers are getting better and working out ways around it. as a result the games seem to be getting way more fun to play.

Not to mention new IPs like Patapon which is one of the most addictive games ever! although the rhythmic button pressing will piss off anyone around you!

Yeah, buy how many are nintendo developed? Also what do sales have to do with good games. I  bet you that the ds has many times more 3rd party sales than the psp, and that is why its getting about 80% of the japanese third party support, and I would say 60% of the western third party support. Also while there probably is "SOmething" comparable to "some" ds games on the psp, the ds probably has far more of these "comparable" games, and of better quality.

i have not said that these games are bad, but not everybody likes them (i personally don't like most of the typcal nintendo franchises).

thats just why i said that you will be happy with ds if you like nintendo games, if you don't like them you will most likely be more happy with the psp.
