If the sales this coming week match the previous then Dark Knight will have hit $500mil over 50 days sooner than the only other movie to do so (U.S.) Titanic.

Now Titanic ended up in Theaters for ove 190 days and grossed a sickening $600m. It also had FIFTEEN weekends at no.1.. The Dark Knight was only number 4 this weekend.

Do you think that the Dark Knight will have the legs to run down Titanic and become the new No.1 all time ($s not ticket sales).???

When you adjust Titanic's numbers for inflation, it is impossible to beat. IMPOSSIBLE.

No it was beat by E.T. and Star Wars if Inflation is adjusted.

It's unsure which is No.1 Star Wars or Gone With the Wind. Given the lack of supporting data for the latter usually Star Wars is considered no.1. But Film Historians have estimated almost half a billion tickets sold during the depression for Gone With the Wind.

It would have to revenue something like $860m to come close.

Update!!! The Dark Knight is still showing in select theatres.

About 55 Nationwide last I checked. It has grossed over $533 Million

Still decidedly second from Titanic, but a very nice 2nd place indeed.

More importantly tdk has made over 1 million usd worldwide.
