Forums - Sony - LBP WILL LET YOU EARN REAL LIFE MONEY $$$$$$$$

What's a better incentive to create a level in LittleBigPlanet than good, hard cold cash? According to recent comments by David Reeves, president of SCEE, that's what's planned for the upcoming community-driven platformer. "What we're trying to do with LittleBigPlanet is almost iTunes meets eBay in the sense that once an individual or a developer has qualified by producing certain levels or certain add-ons, they will then be able in the future to exchange these and make money out of them," Reeves notes. "Eventually, it's feasible that you might well see the first LittleBigPlanet millionaire!"

It appears that how much creators can charge for content is also user-determined. "Even if you charge less than one euro, it doesn't take many downloads if you've got a really strong LittleBigPlanet level for people to be able to make money. It's a great way for people to show others what they can do." This may give aspiring level designers a chance to not only show off their creativity, but turn their skills into profit.

Is that like selling level 70 characters in WoW?

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

Wait... the fact that user generated content may have to be paid for is being considered a good thing?

Isn't that... a BAD thing since most of the people who are any good at it are going to want YOU to pay for it?

It seems like something that will really hurt the community.

Eh, what do i care. I'll only make and play my own shit anyway.

Wait... the User Created Content can be charged? Doesn't that negate the whole benefit point of the game, from it being based mostly on user created contents? And it's being touted as a good thing??

Edit: Please listen the poster above me?

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this. Adding money into the equation could really ruin it. I don't want to play 50 cents or a dollar for every freaking level I download. I think that would really inhibit growth rather than promote it. Everybody would be churning out levels to charge for, and downloading very few of them. I think the community should be free.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Yeah, the more I think about it the worse this is. I really hope this turns out not to be true or they could really ruin what could be an amazing game.

did you read the article? the community rates your products, if they are bad you cant charge 534534 million dollars, if they are good you are alowed to charge more money, its limited by the popularity

This marks the first bad news I've heard about LBP.

I'm going to quit my job and churn out LBP levels. I'll be rich or homeless in in no time.
