Pro is a wise choice. You should get the latest motherboard called falcon...and it has HDMI port for HD (if you need it later on) and it should not give you RROD.

Also, you should have plenty of room with the 20 gig hard drive...and that you can always upgrade later.

The pro model comes with HD cables as well as regular RCA cables so you can use them on both types of TVs.

299 for that bundle is amazing value...I suggest you act fast. I would buy an Elite right away if it was bundled with those games...but sadly its only the pro console on sale at futureshop...

How do i go about checking/asking if the motherboard is Falcon?

The bundle is at FutureShop Canada and is for the Pro + two free games of choice.

The only way to be sure you got the falcon is to see the actual motherboard. But you dont want to do that :)

I've not seen a motherboard that had HDMI and wasn't the falcon motherboard so as long as you have HDMI port you are set. Also as long as you manufactured date is after october 2007 you should be good.

You can buy it and once you open it if it turns out you got a model from early 2007 that was in the back of Future shop for a year...jsut return it and replace it with another. 2 riends of mine bought xboxes last month and both got the falcon motherboard... I can tell as it runs much cooler than my unit.

wait the 60gb model is coming

Why?

If he REALLY needs the hard drive, he can sell Gears of War and GTA4 and buy the 60 GB hard disk and will still save 50 bucks on the retail of the 60 gb unit...

Is there a manufacturing date on the boxes? that would be easier.

Hi,

I'm interested in purchasing an Xbox 360. I'm currently own a Wii and have been looking into getting one of the HD consoles. After much thought, I have decided to get a 360 instead of the PS3.

I guess I should state my setup. I don't have an HD TV and don't plan on getting one anytime soon. I've heard the Arcade pack is not a wise choice and I don't think I have much use for an Elite.

Anyhow, the bottom line is FutureShop is selling the 360 Pro for 299.99 + Gears of Wars and GTA 4. I'm very interested in getting these games and it seems like such a good deal. However, I'm not too familiar with all the models + the announcement of the 60G. Is the 20G Pro a good choice... especially after reading this

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=34257

Will I have problems with load/install times if I choose a 20G over the 60G? Is RROD common amongst Pros?

The 20GB Pro for $299.99 + GOW and GTAIV is a great choice, as your getting the games you want.

It all depends on what's important to you. The load times of every X360 game are pretty good. The install feature just makes it even faster if you need it for a specific game.

The big question is: Do you plan on downloading, and keeping a lot of content on your Xbox 360? If your going to download a ton of demos, and movies, the 20GB should be fine. But if your planning on buying a ton of Downloadable content (and I mean a large amount), then consider the 120GB later on.

RROD isn't common on Pros. If you can check out the Pro your buying at FutureShop before you buy, look at see if you can find when the console was made. If it was made later than 9/07, you'll be fine (and most shops have been moving X360 stock quick enough, that the likelyhood of you getting an older console is slim to none).

So yeah, I'd go with the 20GB if your not doing a ton of online downloading.

Thank you mrstickball!

I don't have the need to download movie content but demos would be nice.

That brings up another question.  What would I need to get the 360 online.  I have a wired network... I run a home business so I have no intestions of messing with my setup (e.g. wireless).  Is it as simple as connecting the 360 to the router?

Every 360 manufactured since Nov 07 is a Falcon. If you want, check the box, if it says the power source is 175w then it is a Falcon. Non Falcon models were 203w.

I have a 20gb and still have 8gb remaining, but I don't really DL movies, shows or demos. The 20gb is really only 14gb usable so if you want space, wait and get a 60gb.  Or get the 20gb now and buy the 60gb Hdd accessory kit down the line when you need it. It'll be $99.

Thank you, I will check the power source when I go.  Do you know if the new 60G consoles will be priced as the Pros?  I read on this site (forum post) that the 60G will be more expensive but I don't recall if there was a source to that statement.  Perhaps I shouldn't pass on the two game deal LOL

That's an awesome deal your getting........$299 and 2 free games!

For the internet, I believe you would have to just take the ethernet cord from the router and plug it into the Xbox 360 instead of your computer.......

My internet is from my cell phone so I just plug the ethernet cord into the computer and then connect that into the Xbox 360..........When I did have cable internet I believe what I stated above is how I got it connected.........You might have to reset the modem/router for the Xbox to connect.

The 60gb pro's are supposed to be $349.00 from what i have read.

Your best bet is the pakage deal for the 20GB, wait for the 60 gb package deal.

The package deal for the 60gb is $99 and consist of the hard drive, a headset, and a 3 month subscription of Xbox Live gold.

60 gig model will sell for 349 from what ive heard.

you need:

1 xbox 360

1 ethernet cable

1  router or modem

1 internet connection

1 silver or gold account (silver is free, but you should get a month gold for free just by signing up anyways)

directions:

plug ethernent cable from your modem/router  into your xbox360.  turn power on.  create an online account.   and there you go.
