heh, how "unexpected", that a well-known Sony hater like trestres makes this list, whatever makes you happy pal

I'm a Nintendo fan and soon to be 360 owner, so my love for Sony is quit minimal. However, I must confess that even more impressive than this list is the list of new exclusive IPs. After all, it's not as though they have actually LOST most of these titles - they will still be on the PS3. But they look to be adding some superb new exclusive titles such as MAG, InFamous and Little Big Planet, in addition to Uncharted and Resistance.

Let's be honest here - Sony (and its "independent" partners) have probably created more new, successful IPs than either Nintendo or MS the past 2 generations. What'd MS give us? Halo, Fable and PGR. Nintendo? Pikmin, Eternal Darkness and a bunch of casual games. Sony (and its partners) delivered Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Jak and Dexter, Ico, Shadows of Colossus, SoCom, Motorstorm, LBP, Mag, Infamous, Uncharted, Resistance and I'm sure others I am forgetting. And while not all of these have been Halo-type blockbusters, I suspect most Wii and 360 owners would love to see many of them on their systems, too.

Someone should make a list of the exclusives PS2 lost. If I remember there were also quite a lot of them with franchises as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Timesplitters, SSX, Dino Crisis, GTA, Kingdom Hearts, Need for speed, Silent Hill, Tomb Raider, Chocobo Mysterious Dungeoun, Final Fantasy, Tony Hawk? Final Fantasy etc.... We all know how PS2 suffered because of the lost of those exclusives;..

and despite all that, the PS3 has more exclusives to come than the 360....

Handheld remakes/sidestories should not count as lost exclusives. Dragon Quest IX is a lost exclusive though, since the game will receive no console version and previous iterations were playstation releases.

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>

Good points

  • with Resistance, Sony has its Flagship FPS
  • Motorstorm is a good racing game, Motorstorm 2 looks to improve upon it in every way
  • Uncharted looks like it could have legs as a Franchise
  • Folklore and Heavenly Sword were both quality one-offs
  • LittleBigPlanet looks just amazing
  • InFamous definitely has potential and Sucker Punch is a very good developer
  • MAG is still up in the air, but if they can pull it off...oh boy

So like you said, it's not like they haven't had any new games either

GTA timed exclusivity  -  GTA4 (exclusive DLC), X360;   GTA: ChinaTown Wars, Nintendo DS

Ridge Racer  -  Ridge Racer 6, X360; Ridge Racer DS, Nintendo DS     Thanks PIMP

Unreal Tournament 3  -  UT3, X360     Thanks PIMP

I thought this list was about Exclusivity Sony had which it lost... I don't know many of the games there but here's about the three I know...

GTA was never a Playstation exclusive to begin with... It's origins were found on MS-DoS, which I played and enjoyed... and then it was ported to windows and then the playstation. The franchise evolved and also included the Xbox system when it was released and that was GTA III, on the original Xbox (not the 360), which many of u didn't have so I suppose u wouldn't know. When the PS3 and X360 came out, GTA IV was developed for both system and never intended to be a PS3 exclusive. One cannot lose what one never had.

Ridge Racer 6 was never intended for the PS3 as when it came out, the PS3 wasn't launched. Ridge Racer 6 was indeed a launch title for the Xbox 360, a year before the PS3 came out.  When the PS3 Came out, Ridge Racer 7 was released exclusively for the PS3.

Unreal 3 was not an intended PS3 Exclusive either. As a matter of fact, the reason why the Xbox 360  was stalled was Microsoft's stance on free content provided by the developer while Sony was a more open system that did not cause this problem. After discussions later on, Microsoft softened its stance to allow the Xbox 360 version of Unreal to go ahead. Aswell, The game was released on a PC.

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

Of course that neither Sony, microsoft nor Nintendo will ever lose a 1st party franchise, since they own them.
All of the games I've listed are either from ex second parties or 3rd parties.

Also why don't casual games count? You are extremely biased towards Sony when naming games that the big three developed last and current gens. Nintendo had a console named GBA and has one named DS, you know?

Why didn't you name Odama, Geist, Wii Sports, Metroid Prime, Wii Play, Wii Music, Brain Training, Big Brain Academy, Wii Fit, WarioWare, Rythm Tengoku, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Excite Truck, Elite Beat Agents, etc??
