The sad thing about this is, the PS1 version of Ogre Battle is around $50 and Tactic Ogre is about $90 to $100.

Damn really? Glad i've still got my copies. Wonder what the SNES Ogre Battle goes for.

So do I... :(
Ogre series is the only SRPG series I adore more than the Fire Emblem series.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Yu-Gi-OH! The Flasbound kingdom for GC is nearly the same, only better graphics, vastly worse story, and somehwat different (worse?) gameplay. Dragon for for Saturn looks similar, I have seen movies havn't playd, but it has battles where you have limited control and marching slowly over an overworld map during combat.
Its not quite the same, but I'm playing FFTactics Advanced II DS (...) at the moment - and its pretty good (and has a lot of the same elements).
Might be worth a look.

Try Final Fantasy Tactics, the best SRPG ever made, by the creators of Ogre Battle. Also Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis for the GBA is excellent, and Disgaea (or any Nippon Ichi game) for the PS2 offers a lot of depth and customizability, though the atmosphere is completely the opposite (it has multiple endings, also)

Final Fantasy Tactics is nothing like Ogre Battle.
It's a rip off off Tactics Ogre... that got rid of every element that connected it to Ogre Battle and replaced it with the FF5 job system and Magic.

Yeah, i've tried FF Tactics..but it's not the same :/ I really prefer Ogre battle's job system and it's just as Kasz216 says..FF's job system fails imo, and the story isn't of my taste. Although i did not even get to lvl 10 :P, maybe it got better after..but OB64's story got me from the start.
But i'll check out Disgaea, seems like a solid rpg.
ty all :D
