Forums - Nintendo - What now for Nintendo? (Superior Format)

One rumor I have heard, which could be true and would be (somewhat) disapointing is that Nintendo has several titles that are (basically) complete and Nintendo is just waiting to release them. If you look at several of Nintendo's development teams, they can work on multiple Wii projects and multiple DS projects at the same time and many of them haven't released a game in 12 to 18 months.

I thought Project Hammer looked dull from the beginning, I don't mind it disappearing, I want to see more of Disaster though.

Camelot recently revealed that they actually have two games in the works right now (one of which BETTER be Golden Sun 3).

Also, this was the first moment I realized that we saw nothing from Retro Studios at E3. Now I'm really annoyed. Hopefully, they restarted work on Raven Blade.

From what I remember, Raven Blade was canceled because it played like a mess ... I wouldn't be disapointed if Retro re-used the art style and storyline that they were planning on using with Raven Blade, but I really hope the gameplay and combat goes in a completely different direction.

Well, I'm sure with the Wiimote instead of a GC Controller, they'd be reworking the control scheme from the ground up anyway.  It was supposed to be a pretty impressive RPG, and that's something the Wii could use--it was also about the only game from them that anyone knew anything about.

Thanks bud. Nice list.

Did you want to add Nibris under 2nd party with Sadness? Or is it's possibility of ending up as vaporware going to keep it off the list.

I would tend to believe this is true. The way that one team (EAD no.2) came out and showed THREE titles at E3 that were playable, if not basically finished, is amazing.

I've believed since last summer that Nintendo had set up their internal development to crank out software for the Wii as if they thought they were going to be going it alone. In other words, they were prepared to have the Wii sell at GameCube levels, have very poor 3rd party support, and have to support the console pretty much by themselves.

With the Wii being a runaway success they haven't had to carry the entire release schedule on their own. So now they have a small backlog of finished product. If they're using the time to polish up these titles I think that could be very good. In this case hopefully success will breed more success. I'm hopeful.

@everyone-else

Thanks for the comments. I've made some small changes to the OP.

I'm kinda reluctant to add that just yet. You know... Nibris? With their history it just doesn't seem reliable to me yet.

Seriously, I'm looking at this, and I can't stop thinking about Star Fox. What are they planning for the series? And what is going to be Retro Studios' next game? Lots of questions, barely any answers.

By the way, Brownie Brown is an awesome name for a developer. =P

The "rumor" is that Sega may be developing it. Right now I think that's wishful thinking.

Completely understand. I'm hoping though

Great list, thanks for compiling it.

It really seems weird that there are so little new games announced, Nintendo obviously has the resources to produce a lot more games than we know about. Since nobody has heard anything about them firing some people, I'm pretty sure they are working on more games than we know about, and maybe one or two of them will be announced at TGS to be released this holiday.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

They're not a second party developer anyway. They're a third party developer without a publisher.

And they'll never get a publisher if they don't start cranking out some gameplay footage.
