Forums - Microsoft - Will gears Of War 2 be the first to sell 3 million copies in europe

it has a chance

first 360 game i mean

No, not a small chance
Gears 1 sold 1.8m, and 5.27m overall. GeoW 2 will sell a little better, but not much, and most of that extra is going to come from the US. Halo 3 only managed 2.1m, so I think G2 will better that by a bit, but not much

Dont think so

A lot of people have some really unreasonable expectations for Gears 2...

It would be a massive surprise if Gears sold 3 million in Europe - particularly considering that Halo 3 didn't even get close to achieving this. Gears promises to be a huge game but 3 million in Europe isn't on the cards.

Probably not. But maybe. Most shooters are biggest in America so its doubtful but hey why not.

Gears of War 1 saw Europe get roughly 53.5% of the NA sales numbers. Halo 3, on the other hand saw 38.3% of NA sales numbers. This would show us that Gears is quite a bit more popular, relatively, in Europe versus the US.

Grand Theft Auto IV is around Gear's number, at 51.6%.

So then it really depends on how well it sells, overall, as this should benefit Gears' sale in Europe.

However, it will be rather difficult for Gears to sell 3m in Europe, as that would mean that Gears must sell approximately 5.6 million copies in North America - just below what Halo 3 is at this moment.

Is 5.6m in North America possible? Sure, but that's a pretty high number.

Possible? Yes. Likely? Eh. I give it a 50/50 shot. That's 8.6 million units in North America + PAL territories, which is in the upper tier of where I think Gears could sell (I say 8m when everything is said and done).

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
