joking aside though, the 2 companys with the most memorable mascots or gaming icons are nintendo and sega because they have been around longer

sonic (sonic)

the truth of the matter is that nintendo and sega have many more gaming superstars that they OWN compared to microsoft or sony........

sega or nintendo ALONE have more icons than microsoft and sony COMBINED

in terms of icons that they actually OWN... sony ONLY have Kratos and microsoft ONLY have master chief

based on that alone nintendo and sega still RULE lol

Sony has plenty of first party stuff that could be mascots.  They just tend to develop new IPS rather than making the same stuff over and over again, so they never gain the notoriety of other franchises.  Not to mention they are usually lost in a sea of games (something that hasn't happened so far this gen with games like Resistance).   They're also usually not marketed very well.  Mario is well known becuase of his age.  Master Chief is well known because of Microsoft's intense marketing.  Sony's franchises, outside of GT, benefit from none of this.  God of War is really the only franchise that comes close, with Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank a ways behind.

Jak & Daxter could've replaced Crash if they had been advertised more, but then Naughty Dog moved on to Uncharted, leaving J&D in the dust (hopefully not permanently). 

Sackboy has some real potential to become Sony's mascot, however, as they are REALLY pushing LBP this holiday season, and they will be selling actual sackboys along with the game.

Oh, and then there's the newcomers this gen, like Nathan Drake and Nathan Hale.

Nintendo wins this hands down, but outside of Sonic, Sega isn't all that hot.

I don't even know who most of those sega ones are, hardly anyone even owned a sega system or played some of those games you list.  Sony's list and massive fanbase destroys segas list.

what did sony actually CREATE? god of war is in house so i will give them that.... but whatelse? SONY might be more sucessful now than sega because of sonys financial muscle, but in term of games that they created and actually OWN...... SEGA pawns SONY......
