Forums - Gaming - Love wii, hate Nintendo!

My title may seem kinda contradictory, but it does not as a matter of fact. Let me clarify!

Wii is a great machine for several reasons.

a) It's extremely energy efficient, does not cause you to spend hundreds of dollars on electricity bills each year.

b) It's extremely light and small, exactly how a gaming console should be!

c) It has a sleek and lovely design. Ok, Gamecube and N64 were cuter, but wii is still my favorite console in this gen in terms of looks.

d) It's very user and developer friendly. It's easy to learn for us users and for developers as developing games on the wii is less costly, less time consuming and less risky.

e) Its games are cheaper and it already comes bundled with a game.

f) It's totally silent, which is a very important factor to me.

g) It's innovative and and has some original stuff.

On the other hand, I hate Nintendo, because;

a) They would often feel no shy to employ sinister policies, like barring third parties from developing games from other consoles (this felt especially bad against Sega in the past).

b) Many irritating policies like overwhelming copy protection paradigms, sticking to cartridges and imprisoning the companies to expensive propriety formats.

c) Their games suck. I truly hate Nintendo games. I can't stand playing any type of mario or pokemon games or such, maybe Wii Play, wii sports kind of games could be exception, never played them yet.

e) Nintendo is an innovative company, though I hate mario, I adore (original) crash bandicoot games, or though I hated Mario kart, I loved Crash team racing. So I gotta give them credit for their original ideas and innovativeness. However they lack dynamism. They didnt have the dynamism that Sega had in the past with Genesis and Dreamcast, and they still dont have the dynamism that Sony has brought into the industry with ps1, ps2 and ps3, which is also true for MS with Xbox and Xbox360.

I, myself, have never had a Nintendo console, but would stick to Sega and Sony consoles and maybe Xbox360 in the future. Yes I love wii as a machine but I hate the games, and what is it good for with no games that I like!? I still want Nintendo in this business because of their innovation and competition but I hate it when they dominate like this. I want Sony or Microsoft, whichever, to win immediately, LOL :)

Just my opinion gentlemen!

Can I still love both. I love Nintendo. And I love how they mix things up haha. Scaring the obsessed loyalists is probably for the best anyways as then when they come out with what they want eventually they'll shit themselves haha.

I respect, but fervently disagree with, your opinion.

You disagree? ok, totally cool with it. I know anyway that there are millions of people who disagree with me because Mario and pokemon games sell like crazy, lol.

I'm the opposite: love Nintendo hate Wii.

I don't like the Wii very much, but I love Nintendo and their games. As long as they reinvest some of their casual money to beef up 1st party dev to the point where they can be self suffieicnt when it comes to core games, I will be EXTREMELY happy. Wii looks ok, but I don't like the controller and think the graphics should be better.

I can't fault you for your opinion, but I can't give you credit for enjoying any zelda games. It's like the 2nd most important thing in being a gamer after making sure you have electricity in your house. You should have at least ONE zelda game you like, no matter how old it is. ;)

I'm glad for Nintendo's situation actually, as they came through a hard time. Half of the reasons you posted why you hate Nintendo is the old Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't do cartridges for their home consoles anymore, has an open door 3rd party system.

Its kinda hard to like a Nintendo game if you've never owned one of their consoles. Sounds like you're a bitter Sega fan from back in the early days.

Nintendo earned their stripes to get back on top, so at least give respect where its due. =)

You dont like the Wii.

You only like the Motion Control that Sony will copy someday.

There is a difference between games "sucking" and you not liking them.

Wii is a good console in theory. But game developers are not making enough quality games for the system.
