i dont understand i thought halo 3 was the concluding chapter in the halo trilogy (bungie.net)?!



There is a whole slew of material to make games off of in the Halo universe. Bungie is not making Halo 4. They are confirmed to be making a game in the Halo universe though.

Two words:

Cluster. Fuck.

Even getting four experienced players going full steam ahead in Halo 3 is unwieldy at times. People are dying left and right from friendly fire, simply because so much is happening at once. It gets really chaotic later in the game.

Still, I'll give 8 player co-op a go and even if it doesn't work that well, it should provide for some hilarious moments.

 

But there is a major difference between the co-op mode of Halo and the Co-op one of R2.  The Co-op mode in Halo is the same exact story that you pay in single player, the R2 campaign is made around the 8players not the other way around.  Each player will also have the chance to play as different units, Medic, sniper, sec-ops, engineer and what ever else there is.  The Co-op mode also relies on team work and if you don't work as a team you will die, this will not turn into a clusterfuck.

EDIT: You will also earn exp points to level of up your character and earn special things, maybe classed based or whatever.

Which is one of the reasons why I'm excited to see R2.

But it seems like so much work. I will be absolutely floored if Insomniac can deliver all they're promising with R2 and make it good. Especially given the two year developmental window.

It will be interesting, that's for sure. I don't see how a battle of that size will ever not be a clusterfuck. Shit, keeping a team of 10 together on the fly is damned difficult and that's with clans who have been playing together for years.

But a pub server with 120+ per side? Absolute chaos. It would be like a war between the French, Spanish, and Italians. Somehow, everyone will find a way to lose. :D

I don't think any of those have a forge utility. All those games have a lot more players on ther battelfield. In that case its no innovation at all. Battlefield for the PC exceeded all those except MAG. Also Huxley is coming to the PC360 with 200 ppl on the battlefield AND it's an actual MMO. So maybe some ppl like to cram as many ppl on the battlefield and call it new but I do not. But you hate anything MS so whats the point of arguing with the narrow minded.

It constantly surprises me how so many people ignore PlanetSide and call MAG an "innovation". It's a logical transition from games like Battlefield, Tribes, and PlanetSide... Games which have been around for up to ten years now.

I know right. Planetside was released in Q2 of 2003 I think and Battlefield has been around a long time as well so stuffing a lot of ppl on a battelfield is far from innovative.

OT: Im sure the next Halo will be excellent. Some people blur the lines of innovation and execution. Halo has the theater and forge that are great features, tho not entirely new in their own right, but IMO the reason Halo is a great franchise is that it does everything that a FPS is supposed to do and it does it great. Yes ppl hate Halo but for every 1 person who hates it 5 more ppl love it. The haters are just the ones who scream loudest.

halo 4 will sell 23 million copied and sony will cry a lot

halo 4 will have 12 person co op and 267 people online



I fully expect it to look prettier and that it'll allow you to shoot more things.
