Have any of them had five or six (counting Peter Jackson) in seven years?  (aside from Pokemon.)

No.

Final Fantasy released #1-5 in 6 years. (87-92)

Dragon Quest released #1-5 in 7 years. (86-92)

Grand Theft Auto released #1-5 in 7 years. (97-04) - GTA I, II, III, VC, SA

Want me to keep going on about your failure?

Two different things.

First off, Final Fantasy and Dragon quest were all on the (S)NES which had short dev time.

Grand Theft Auto:  Well played.

But how about Final Fantasy Ten, 11, 12, and 13.  Four games in eight years

How about Gran Turismo?  Over ten years, only four main games

Dragon Quest on the PS?  Years inbetween development.  VIII came out forever ago.

And Pokemon? Talk about a milked franchise. They release the same game twice each time (Diamond and Pearl, etc.) and have Pokeon Stadium and Mystery Dungeon and Pokemon Rangers etc. etc. etc. You've got to be kidding.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

The usual routine, everything my guys do is super-awesome; everything the other guys do is super-bad. Nevermind both are doing the same thing.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

 Nice, just nice

Tho I do agree with DMJ on the 8 player COOP. Im not so sure its going to be that great on R2 but who knows. If they were going to make 8 player COOP the scope of the campaign would have to be huge. Obviously uou can tell from my sig Im a big Halo fan and I think they should just let Halo 4 be the next Xbox launch title. Halo Chronicles and Halo wars will keep us occupied. And for those who said Halo 3 wasnt that big of a jump from Halo 2, clearly you haven't played many 8v8 Forge games. By far the most fun I have had on a console ever.

Consoles Owned: Sega Genesis, NES, PS2 (RIP) N64, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii

So we're allowing excuses of NES and SNES games into this discussion?

I went ahead and added Mega Man (12 games in 7 years), Resident Evil to the list.

And if you want me to keep adding PS1 era games, I can do that too:

Twisted Metal: 6 Games in 7 years (#1-4, Black, Small Brawl)

And if you look, Resistance is having it's first sequel in just 2 years. Shorter timespan than Halo did. How many more franchises do you want me to throw at you?

Is resistance going to have an RTS?  Is it going to have a third person shooter?  Is it going to have a Whatever it is that Peter Jackson is doing too.

Megaman.  You're proving my point.  What happened to the megaman franchise?  Dead.

Twisted Metal.   And now the game is taking a much needed break, it was getting burnt out.

NES and SNES games had shorter dev times, and were far less ambitious.  IS Super Mario Bros the same graphical prowess, detailed, and polished as Halo 3?

I don't have many more to throw at you, only because Microsoft hasn't been around long enough, and doesn't have neough internally develop titles, and didn't have many successful titles that could get sequels on the original XBOX.  That's the good part of having an unsuccessful initial console.  Can't saturate the market with many games.

DMeisterJ,

The whole point is that Halo is getting milked, like other series have. You said that some series haven't had that many releases that quick, and you were entirely wrong. The userbase was much smaller in the NES/SNES era, so it's the same thing. Excuse yourself all you want, but your clearly wrong.

I'm not arguing the series is getting milked, but how many other series have been getting milked? Guitar Hero is up to an insane amount as a PS2-era game, and God of War is getting milked too - It's had 4 games in 4 years if GOW3 comes out next year!

So do we want to discuss Sony milked franchises too?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Oh, and FYI: Resistance could have an RTS named after it. After all, the resistance franchise is 2 years old now. Halo is 7 years old. So it has 5 years to do whatever it wants to be in the same class as Halo in terms of milking.

You can discuss whatever you like.

You said all I needed you to say, Halo is being milked.

I can't remember a time when four projects based off of one game were being done at the same time. (Halo chronicles, Bungie's Halo, Peter Jackson's halo, and third-person Halo.)

Hey Final Fantasy and Gran Tursimo would ge tthe games out quicker if they could!

They're just slow.  They started FF13 like as soon as FF12 was done.  Same with GT5.
