Forums - Sony - GT5.... coming in 2010?

2011? For GT PSP. Haha so may I call it vaporware until then haha.

You guys must remember that Polyphony digital is a small team, Sony owns them and if Sony won't increase the size of their team then there is nothing Polyphony digital can do. Each cars has an average of 200k polygons, and takes 6months of one persons time to make. GT5 is the best looking racing game ever and it takes a long time to make perfection.

EDIT: Plus the fans have demaned damage and that will take even more resouces to make, plus they don't want to do the same crappy damage that was in Forza or many other racers.

Well, I'm sure they are delaying it because GT in America has lost a lot of popularity. GT5 prologue didn't even break 500K in America. Let's not even talk about Japan. They are probably trying to hype the game and hope by the time the game releases, PS3 would have a huge install base to sell a lot of copies

Well as far as Polyphony Digital is concerned, they sold 550k in North America as of April.  Obviously that is sold to retail, and sold online, which vgchartz doesn't track.  But that is what they get paid for.

The problem is that you buy a system with the promise of playing al these games then you hear it will now take 2-3 years after you actually bought thinking it was soon lol. If there is something Nintendo has done right is giving their userbase all the games they wanted to play from nintendo within a year or 2.

This is why I find it funny when people think all these games announced at E3 from SONY will actually see the light of day in 2009 (looking at you gow 3). Hell LBP got delayed at E3 lol from sept to october. Is like there is always time to delay things. Obviously the sony loyalist won't mind but everyone else knows is just retarted. Delaystation still going strong into 2008!

:O I guess Nintendo's strategy of announcing the game when it is near completion was aimed at avoiding this. Fans will indeed get pissed, and another game could come before and ruin their party.

Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Third parties are going to support both the 360 and PS3.  I was responding to his statement that "third parties are going to ditch Sony."  Do you think they will ditch Sony because GT5 may not deliver to until 2010?  How can a game that has never had a release date be delayed?

This thread is a troll trap.

I keep hearing this theory of how games which don't have specific release dates can't be delayed. Perhaps that's technically true according to some definitions, but in reality we know perfectly well that games like Duke Nukem Forever were delayed, even though a release date was never published...

The earliest we thought GT5 would release was the end of 2009.  It slips into the beginning of 2010 is that a huge problem?  I hardly think Duke Nukem is a good comparison.  Shouldn't we create a thread for Alan Wake?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

that means no ps3 for me untill then...

Sony domination starts in 2008 2009 2010!!

Aww dang it. And Neos will have had hundreds of hours on wii music by then:

@dbot: Don't get me wrong, I just brought up DNF as it's an extreme example. Extreme examples are often good to prove a point (since they'll ring the most).

One doesn't need to be extreme to defend the point I was making though... My point is that games can be delayed even when release dates haven't been published.
