Forums - Gaming - Confused gamer: Why is one of these situations better than the other?

Yeah, I'm gonna go with Okey on this one.

We've been hearing a lot of "Wait for E3" comments if you asked what was coming at the end of the year for the Wii.

E3 has come and gone. And all I have is Animal Crossing. No flood of third-party support or anything like that.

I think people are very angry over that.

For those of you using the GoW1/2 timelines, you're also completely ignoring something:

Chains of Olympus.

Wii sports Resort isn't coming out to 09.

Neither is FFXIII, Resi 5, and Star Ocean 4.

DC Universe, MAG, God of War III, inFAMOUS, and Killzone 2 coming out in 09. But Sony showed DC universe, inFAMOUS and Killzone 2. So they don't really count.

The rest that Sony showed was 08.

Again, bull.  GoW3 is not coming on 09.   Not a chance.  If it was, again it would have been in the trailer.  The only time Sony gave a release date for GoW3 was on the show floor while be being pressured by press.

God of War was released on March 22, 2005 in North America.

God of War II was released on March 13, 2007 in North America.

Unless the progression changes, we can expect God of War III in March of 2009.

PS3 dev cycles + Chains of Olympus.

Back to the OP ...

People are upset with Nintendo because they haven't found a good balance for the ammount of information they release about games and when they release this information.

Back in the day they released information about as soon as enough existed to make an impression; people immediately became hyped about upcomming games and it always seemed like Nintendo has a massive number of amazing games just on the horizon. Unfortunately, this caused problems because the amazing line-up never seemed to materialize and the game drought seemed worse than it was because people would hold off buying games that were available in order to wait for the "Great" games to be released.

Today Nintendo is holding onto information until games are practically released (see: Mario Kart Wii) and their core fanbase is getting frustrated because they  don't know what is on the horizon; many of these gamers will compare the lists of upcomming games between the Wii and other systems, and because the Wii has no announced games past the end of the quarter it looks like a far worse line-up.

Well combine the fact that they hadn't announced any games since Mario Kart (which was almost a year ago) and the fact that they had absolutely nothing announced for the rest of 08, can't you see why people were expecting something big?
That's all I've been hearing the last few months. "You really think Nintendo has nothing up it's sleeve? Wait til e3"

Well e3's over now and we've got...Animal Crossing (which I'm actually pretty excited about... but generally speaking, no one else really seems to care)

Plus their conference was a total joke. An embarrassment.

I love my Wii but in as far as games go, it's really falling behind the pack.

I agree with him.

Chains of Olympus was developed by Ready at Dawn, not Sony Santa Monica, who is developing God of War III.

Same to you naz.

FF XIII will be no later than 2010 in the US and EU it could even potentially make it by holiday 09. SE said they have finished the story so now with the Crystal Tools they start porting everything from the PC build and start the localization. A year and half to get that done is more than possible.

Nintendo just announces stuff as they have it. Look at Wario Land. Other than LBP that's my most anticipated console game through the end of this year, and they just announced it in a random week. They did the same thing with Sonic and Online Multiplayer in Brawl. Why people still haven't figured out that Nintendo doesn't save up big stuff for E3 is beyond me.

I'd rather have them spend all their time making the games than 3 months preparing for the presentation, and I'd definitely rather have them spend more time making the games than worthless CGI trailers.

Ah, I thought RaD was part of Sony Santa Monica. Now I see they're in Irvine. My mistake.

The rest of my point still stands, though. Insomniac and their magical coding zombies seem to be the only company able to keep to a 2 year development cycle for the PS3.

Plus... didn't COO also release in March? Seems to make the thought of GOW3 having a March release even more probable...
