MS will do what they always do... find what's wining in the market, and take it.
So no, it will not bring back HD-DVD. What it will do, is be a good reason for MS to bring BD to the 360. I expect a BD add-on, and to see FFXIII released on both BD and DVD for the 360.
souixan, it was a joke, but it does strike a point, the ps1 used a cd drive, when ps2 came out it used a dvd drive, now the ps3 is out with a bluray drive, xbox 1 used a dvd drive as does 360, when ms releases it's next console, are they still going to be behind the times with hardware?
obviously joke thread, @OP you should've at least made it less obvious by not calling others sony fanboy, that gave you away, cant say i didnt enjoy this thread though good job:P

You realize by next gen there very well may be a media that has access speeds and storage size far superior to BD right? I know of 6 with working prototypes now. As far as HD-DVD it's NOT a movie format only it's a MEDIA format, it was used for movies but you can still use it to burn info on etc and it's actually cheaper to buy the drives than Blu-ray for your PC. The Format could still be used fine, I wouldn't buy an HD-DVD movie player though.. on FF13 reviving it, don't count on it, they want to sell as many games as possible they will make it on DVD as most people don't have the HD-DVD add on and SE has no buisnes trying to change that. |
I have actually heard of this technology it's what they use to power the holodeck on the Enterprise.
No, downloaded massive games maybe. Storing on hardrive seems to be the MS strategy. Could be the death of Blueray.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I am 99.9999% sure that the next x-box will have a BD in it.

So MS wants to sell the 720 (or whatever the call it) to less then 50% of it's current market base?
Requiring high speed DL, to DL games, while your competitor can deliver them on a 400 gig disk, would be monumentally stupid.

which would put them behind the times again, by next generation, there will probably be a new format out superior to blu-ray

in 4 years? No. Blu-ray can evolve. It will continue to grow in size and speed. Until a TV comes out that surpasses the media, nothing in the next 10 years comes to mind, Blu-Ray will not be replaced, because there will be no need.
If TV's had not gone past SD, we would have had no reason to replace DVD.
