FF1 was released on the MSX after it came out on the NES. So in a way the comparison still kinda works.

There's a formula to this. They make 3 per generation and every 2 generations the market leader shifts.

3 on NES.
3 on SNES.
(market shifts from Nintendo to Sony)
3 on PS1.
3 on PS2.
(market shifts from Sony to Nintendo)
???

Sony fucked up by putting it on everybody but Nintendo. They'll make mere millions of dollars instead of the billions that could've been made.
