There's a formula to this. They make 3 per generation and every 2 generations the market leader shifts.
3 on NES.
3 on SNES.
(market shifts from Nintendo to Sony)
3 on PS1.
3 on PS2.

Sony fucked up by putting it on everybody but Nintendo. They'll make mere millions of dollars instead of the billions that could've been made.
