Forums - General - I'm taking a break from VGC, postponing my Real Talk. (Twin Peaks rules.)

In the words of the theme song from the 1980s (you know, that decade I studied) movie "The Breakfast Club"

"Don't you forget about me".

We won't Rubang. We won't.

see you round rubang, you are funny no hell man.

Americas financial shit seems really complicated man, in england you can get money really easy, you dont need to take out loans or anything man. you get payed to go to education in this country unless you are filthy rich.

Rubang!! Noooo! D=

Well.. good luck man. I hope you get everything situated out and back on track. I hope to see you around more in the future. There will be an empty spot in VGC waiting for your return.

I don't know what kind of job you're looking for, but keep in mind that bartenders at fancy bars (or people who serve wine at restaurants) tend to pull in big tips.

What kind of job are you looking for?

I was a busboy for a year and then a waiter for a year, and I made pretty good money, but I swore I'd never work with food again. I used to have 2 jobs while I was at community college, and I was kicking ass, but then I quit my jobs and moved out here when I got the free ride to college, and it wasn't as free as I thought.

I'm trying to get a job at the Amoeba record store here, so I can take home movies and albums for free (supposedly up to 20 at once), and it's 2 blocks from campus. Right now I'm posting ads on CraigsList to see if I can survive until I either get my financial aid moneys or get a job. I'll do anything for money. Seriously.

There's a million bars and restaurants out here since it's a college town. I just haven't reached that level of desperation again.

If only there was some way to get paid to type 116 words per minute... that didn't require years of experience.

So wait, were you fired from your last job? How long has it been since you quit working? You could sign up for unemployment.... That's always fun.

By the way, I used to work as a bus boy and then a server myself, and I came to the exact same conclusion you did. I'm never going back into it, even if the pay was rather nice. There was so much drama at the restaurant I worked at as well, since my restaurant (like many) had the majority of it's workers as pretty girls. Pretty stupid girls, I might add.

I was a waiter at an amazing small family-run Italian restaurant making minimum wage plus $30-$70 in tips per night (3-5 nights a week) and I was a secretary for a lawyer answering phones and alphabetizing walls of boxes of documents for $11 an hour 5 days a week for 2 hours a shift.

I quit both jobs in July 2007, traveled across Japan for most of August and blew all the money I saved up, and moved from Los Angeles to Oakland and started school up here on a full ride, but the aid on top of the free ride wasn't enough for a full year of rent. And I have me some cheeeeap rent ($485 a month in this shithole).

What of your new wife? Is she standing by you through this difficult time, or am I being too nosy?

you got a paypal up? I wouldn't mind to give something to the awesomeness itself =)

:'(

I need a job too. Never have I been this broke.

I have £200 in my bank account and £750 in a savings account, but guess what? by the end of August I have £920 to pay for Uni fees.

I need a job, but not many people are employing right now

I don't have anything else to pay out just now though, so as long as I can get a job I am good.

Good luck to yourself Rubang.
