Forums - General - I'm taking a break from VGC, postponing my Real Talk. (Twin Peaks rules.)

First I need to apologize to my fans for not doing a Real Talk this week.  The forums were clogged with E3 madness anyway, but it really pains me to let my fans down for so long.  I'll come back when I can, but for now I'm starving and reading a million film theory essays and blah blah blah life sucks.

Here's what's going on in Rubangland:

I have $2 and some change in my czeching account.

I have $0 in my savings account.

I can't afford my minimum payment of $25 on my credit card so I can't use it at all.

I can't afford to eat.  I bought my last burrito today... and don't know what I'll do at school tomorrow.

It can take another week for my financial aid for summer school to kick in, which will last me until mid-August, which is when my fall financial aid comes in and lasts until January, and then my spring financial aid will last me until May, and then I graduate and try to find a job or die.  And I'll have a 6 month headstart before my loans start gaining interest, and luckily I barely took out any loans, because it was mostly a free ride and then some grants and scholarships.

For now I guess I'm gonna sell some stuff on CraigsList.  I sold an old crappy TV a couple weeks ago for $40, and now I'm selling a printer, a coffee maker, a small fridge, and some old video games.

I'd sell my ass online but I can't even afford a web cam.  A friend of mine just got $500 in one week just jiggling her boobs in a secretary outfit at dudes on the internet.  I'm so jealous.  If somebody could just mail me a webcam I could get out of this rut by wiggling my junk, and I'd totally give you a free show for the webcam-donation.

So yeah, I'm barely gonna be on here for a little bit.

In other news, I just watched all of Twin Peaks, and now I can't even afford the movie sequel/prequel, which was only $7.40 on Amazon.  Holy hell that was the best television show ever made.  So obvious that it was 70% of the influence for The X-Files.  It was the perfect mix of comedy/horror/mystery with just random generic drama/romance/soap opera elements to mix it up.  It was hilarious.  Damn fine show!  Episodes 2-29 are up on CBS.com, but Warner Home Video has the rights to the pilot for some stupid reason.  Anyway, you don't need to see the pilot.  All that happens is you're introduced to the small town of Twin Peaks, and a man named Pete finds the dead body of young Laura Palmer, and they call in FBI agent Dale Cooper to find out what's going on, because they found another girl walking down railroad tracks across state lines near the scene of the crime.  Cooper recognizes details from the murder and thinks it's a serial killer who committed a similar crime a year before.  So if you haven't seen this shit yet, just start at episode 2 and the fun begins.  http://www.cbs.com/classics/twin_peaks/

Today at school I watched The Man with a Movie Camera.  It was my first time seeing that and it was awesome.  I recommend it if you have an hour to kill.  It's like an hour long documentary music video by Vertov in 1929 (the music was added later, but based on Vertov's notes).  It's like the great grand-daddy of Baraka.  And tomorrow in a different class I get to watch Birth of a Nation.  In its entirety.  Again.  I don't recommend that unless you have 3 hours to kill and you're a masochist, or if you're a film buff or history buff or film history buff.

My film classes kick ass.

I tried to keep up with E3 news during the schoolweek, and just saw 8297501 billion threads and gave up. I'll porbalby watch all 3 press conferences over the weekend, as opposed to like, having fun ever again.

I could've sworn I was gonna be fine, but just miscalculated or my shit got delayed or something, I don't even know how it happened anymore. I just now found out I got another week with absolutely no income. I'm applying for some crappy jobs too. Ugh.

Word up Dr. Psrock.

Damn, man. I'm gonna miss you around these parts. You are definitely one of this forums' key members. Hope everything works out for you.

When you return, will you be the Ghost of RubangB's Ghost?

E3 was a major letdown for me from all three companies. There really was nothing new except for stealing an exclusive. Wii sports 2 and LBP was the only really good show for me.

My friends and I had a Twin Pearks party every Thursday last summer, none of us had actually seen it through.

We watched through the entire show along with the movie, had cherry pie, donuts and coffee, the works...damn good coffee!

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I read that Kyle MacLachlan despises cherry pie, and has his whole life.

What an actor!
