Here are my thoughts on which software titles will take home this year’s awards. I have separated each section and have included runner-ups. Let’s see if I was right about this in 5 months.
1. Best Shooter
Winner: Gears of War 2 – Epic
- Best shooter game play mechanics
- Great graphics and physics
- Addictive single/multiplayer
Runner Up: Resistance 2
2. Best RPG
Winner: Fable 2 – Lionhead
- Amazing and innovative game play and story
- Innovative co-op mode and multiplayer game play elements
- Best mix of action and RPG elements in 2008
Runner Up: Fallout 3
3. Best Graphics
Winner: Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots – Konami
- Great action and physics at a steady frame rate
- Lots of amazing cinematic’s that tie into the game play
Runner Up: Unknown
4. Best Platformer
Winner: Little Big Planet – Media Molecule
- Extremely innovative
- Addictive game play elements
- Appeals to a wide audience of gamers
Runner Up: Banjo and Kazooie Nuts and Bolts
5. Best Action Game
Winner: Grand Theft Auto 4 – Rockstar
- Detailed city
- Lots of action oriented aspects that have a large variety
- Great multiplayer that adds to an already comprehensive package
Runner Up: Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots
6. Best Multiplayer Game
Winner: Gears of War 2 – Epic
- Too many modes to choose from
- Addictive game play redefined for m/p
- Perfect size for this type of game
Runner Up: Resistance 2
7. Game of the Year Nominees
- Grand Theft Auto 4
- Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots

- Fable 2
