Forums - Nintendo - is animal crossing: city folk still gonna cost $50?

Now look at the Wii version

Let's see. Wii version looks like it was definitely built using a nearly identical engine. It has very minor graphical differences that are probably only there due to the new 480p output. With that you also get 16:9 view. Other than that and voice chat, what are the differences?

I'll admit I'm not an AC pro, so I could be overlooking something that is a big change. But, from what I can see it is just a minor alteration that was purposely made with little investment as to compensate for the included mic.

Also, why do some of you keep saying it isn't included? If I'm not mistaken it was specifically stated that it was included during the Nintendo conference. It comes free with AC or separately for $30.

Hopefully a lot of games will start using the mic so it doesn't seem like a rip-off.

It's really a smart solution to a lot of problems Nintendo had...

1. Satiates the core with voice chat.
2. Adds parental supervision by making it "full room."
3. No headgear = doesn't look dorky.
4. Perfect type of mic for potential Nintendogs Wii.

But when only AC: CF is announced to use it, it makes it feel like an $80 game.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Umm, no I didn't. But, that is my point. They look nearly the same.

Thats because AC has that style of graphics. You cant make the outlandish cartoony graphics look any different. If Zelda: Wind Waker was remade on Wii with Wii graphics, OMG IT WOULD LOOK THE SAME.

AC's graphics are part of its style and feel. Its what makes Animal Crossing Animal Crossing.

Its was a joke SC, thats what the winking icon is for.  But i know what you were trying to say, i posted about it in another thread too.

ooops my sarcasm reader is all junked up. :)

I think it looks the same too. Yes I know what sequels are but there was a decent sized jump from the GC to Ds version. The rolling look, the town more things to do.

So far I have heard anything new except voice chat, boring.....

It could have been on another planet like Galaxy, or a different time period Prehistoric AC guys would still be cute. But alas it looks like everything is the same.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

It's more than just the style of the game. Look at all of it. The entire gameplay is identical.

I gaurantee you the work put into this game is far less than say Mario Kart Wii. It is a minor upgrade to the DS version for the sole purpose of reducing cost this way they can sell it for less money overall when you figure in the Mic pack-in.

I totally agree with superchunk. It seems to be more of the same. Meh. So far, I've seen zero reasons for me to buy this game, though I loved the previos versions. I'm just not gonna sit through all the same stuff again. Meh. I guess this is being made for all those new casuals who've never played or even heard of the series, so it'll all be new and fresh to them. To me, not so much. Truly and utterly sad, it could've been so great, so many fantastic new things could've been put into it. So many fresh new ideas, options and situations. Ah, the mere thought... Alas, Nintendo seem to have taken the easy route and opted for a quick cash-in. No-one can really deny that, especially after reading IGN's hands-on with the game. Also, the mic is not included with the game. Miyamoto said so in that E3 interview. He wants people to be able to play the game however they want, and because there'll probably be people who want to chat they made the Speak thing. But it's not included with the game.
