Forums - Gaming - Ahh, so how here is about to be a hypocrite?

P.S. was it supposed to be Who here is about to be a hypocrite?? I mean I know I'm far from perfect or anything but Who makes more sense then How...

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

I can't be hypocritical, because I have a 20GB HDD.

However as MrStickball said, the main issue most have had with installs is their mandatory nature.

I would prefer a mandatory install, that was only 20% the size (as developers can be smart about what they install), then having to install the entire disk.

Still, I like where Microsoft went with this. It means things like GTA could look better on the 360, Oblivion could load a lot faster, and the entire thing becomes more reliable/quieter.

I think using this option is a no brainer if you ask me.

If Versus stays exclusive I'll get a PS3.

If not, I may pick up a 120GB HDD to give myself the option.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Xbox360 Arcade can't install anything ...

another fail.

It can if you buy a hard disk. In the meanwhile, care to tell me if a 40gb or the soon-to-come 80gb can play ps2 games?

Anyways, as it's been stated mandatory installs are still crappy. Optional installs are welcome - your game library is always ready to be used without waiting 25 minutes.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Aren't X360 hard drives ridiculously expensive to upgrade? Or have they sorted that out?

Difference is, DMJ, 360 users can still game without the install. They can still do the five minute drive-by gaming. Choice Vs Mandatory. Which do you think is better?

I'm not talking about mandatory vs. optional.

I mean the people that said that, but then do something else.  Optional >>>>>>>>>> mandatory, but if the people who were hating on mandatory start installing whole games, It's extremely hypocritical.

Cool, and I will put this in my PS3 for less money, and not give a shit about installs ;)

The difference between Sony's installs vs. MS'es installs is one is mandatory, the other is optional.

Yes, I agree that there will most likely be hypocracy on the X360 side (myself included), but I think mandatory installations aren't the greatest. Personally, I will not use the install feature except for a very choice few games.

What he said.

With the PS3 install games, I have to take the installs and like it.  There's no choice at all.

With the 360 installs, I can do the following:

  1. Play the game when I get it, not have to wait 8 or so minutes watching an install bar.
  2. I can install the game when it's convienent for me to wait.
  3. Look at the load times and decide for myself if they really bother me that much.
  4. If I want to back and play an older game that I deleted the install data long ago (because hard drives may be big but they aren't infinite) I'm not forced to install that data again and make room.

This totally isn't hypocrisy because the two are totally different.

The difference Is if there is one 360 game you always come back to time and time again you can install just that one, On the PS3 you have to do installs for a lot of the games and have no choice about it. Im presuming it will still need the disk to play the game, So will it really be faster and worth the effort.
