Forums - Microsoft - Now Microsoft has won E3, will they get a Sony-like boost?

Last year Sony won E3 and they experienced a large shift in momentum (which was also because of the 40GB PS3) in the second half of 2007.

Regardless of what some people say about Sony showing some of their favourite series, the fact remains only two things happened at E3 that we didn't already have a good idea would come to pass.  Sony announced a Socom 256 player shooter that is a LONG way away.  Microsoft got FFXIII.

Half the internet's gaming forums crashed (including VGC and NeoGaf) due to the overload of glee from Xbox 360 owners, damage control from Sony fans, and shock from EVERYONE at the culmination of Microsoft's conference.  The conference subsequently overshadowed every announcement and game display at the Sony and Nintendo conferences, with everything being compared to the enormity of Square Enix's "betrayal."

So my question is, will Microsoft see any major boost over the immediate future, and then over the end of the year and next year due to their E3 victory?  Already we see anecdotal evidence that the Xbox 360 is getting boosts in countries it shouldn't even be getting boosts in.  What more will come as a result of Microsoft's success this week?

Funny that you bring up amazon when I am sure you have laughed at people using amazon as a reference.

You dismiss MAG as a distant future release, when you don't mention that FF XIII will not come out soon either.

No, you're right, you're a follower of the games and not biased at all...

I don't really think they won E3, its an opinon btw. Also I don't think there will be a boost either. And even if they did win, E3 doesn't even mean too much anymore. Most final fantasy fans probably already have ps3, and don't really care. I expect alot more announcements at TGS. When you are looking at a console, do you look for the console that has a multiplatform game that was a blow to sony, or the console that got multiple new announcements?

Well, not everyone agrees that M$ won E3, I don't see why M$ got so much credit for showing off loads of 3rd party games? Gears and Banjo looked good, though Fable was a slightly dull show which did not really show anything new.

I wouldn't be surprised if MAG came out before FFXIII ever hits the US/EU.

Oh I'm sorry.  Do I need to redirect you to the word "anecdotal" that I used to describe the Amazon link?

At the end of the day, the majority of the internet acknowledges that Microsoft won.  Even some of this site's hardened Nintendo fanboys acknowledge that.  The only reason Sony fans don't is because many have built up the idea in their heads that they only have to compete with the Xbox 360 and not the Wii.

E3 is about perception, Microsoft won on perception, whether you like it or not.

Provide an answer to my question of get out of my thread.

Last year not everyone agreed that Sony won E3, but it's still acknowledged they did by the community at large.  Its the same for Microsoft this year.

Do you reckon that'll lead to a boost in the coming months?

PS3 survived to GTA4 DLC in PAL/NA countries

so PS3 will survive to FFXIII multiplateform

even more in Japan where there is no Xbox360 release ....

(for japan on amazon.co.jp : at BEST 1k sales * 600% = 6k = non event)

Oh dont get me wrong.  I don't think a 360 boost will kill the PS3 anymore than the PS3 boost last year killed the Xbox 360.

But you acknowledge there will likely be a boost?
