On Sunday 29th June, a 16 year old boy named Ben Kinsella was stabbed to death by a group of yobs who were chasing him. I would like to bring this to your attention and am hoping to get a response from VGC users outside the UK in an effort to persuade the government to take further action. The best way to stop knife crime is to say to kids:
'You think knives are cool?'
and then BAM! a 6" blade in the thigh.
'Not so cool now are they? Ya little bastard.'

Goodness, I hope the Browne government isn't waiting on the word of random foreigners on the internet to finally crack down on stabbings.

Don't get me wrong, I sympathise with the situation, but the solution has to be internal.

Not to sound uncaring or anything, because believe me violence in any form makes me sick, but thank your lucky stars you aren't having to deal with an army's worth of guns on your streets. I swear it seems like every day another innocent get killed in a crossfire around here. The world has just lost all of its fear, you know. No one is afraid of repercussions, they live in the now, only helping themselves.

I think you are at least partially right about people's diminished fear of repercussions, but I think the biggest problem is that for these youths, the best way to prove that you are a man is to stab someone who looks at you the wrong way, or just randomly. They would need strong male role models to teach them that being a man involves contributing to the betterment of society and of your family.

 You can't stop people buying knives. If you want to stab someone you can easily use a steak knife or carving knife instead of a hunting knife.
