Forums - Nintendo - How bad do you think Wii Music is?

I really liked the drumming that looked sweet!
But why Nintendo WHY did you have to do the rhythm for the player! It's not fun when everything is being handed to you on a silver platter. The timing, the notes that 'fit the music', all being done for you.
I was interested in this game but it lost me there. Hope they have separate modes or something...

Honestly? Id rather have a new Kid Icarus or Zelda being developed instead of Wii Music...

But then I might be a bit old school.

1. Grab two pencils.

3.Get 3 VERY high/drunken friends.
4.Turn on radio.

Voila! Wave those pencils around to the music, and you've got the Wii Music experience TODAY, and for a fraction of the cost (depending on the quality of the pencils).

STOP! STOP you're killin' me!!!

mmm i don't know about that, whatever method you use to get high/drunk, it could easily get pretty expensive

Here's a video from my band's last show Check out more (bigger) videos here http://www.youtube.com/user/icemanout

After that press conference, I looked down at my Wii. I swear, it turned away from me!

My Wii is so ashamed, it will not make eye contact with me!

(actually, it's because I have a usb keyboard plugged into the back of it, but damn. You should be ashamed, Wii. You should be ashamed.)

I missed it so I'm just now catching up, but this description of Wii Music from NeoGAF is amusing:

"Basically, you flail your arms and it plays a song at you. It's kinda like a jukebox, but instead of money, you put in physical effort. And instead of good music, it plays midi."

Is this accurate??

No thanks Nintendo, I'll stick to Rock Band.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

I thought it looked like fun. Regardless, I'll at least give it a chance. What I mean by that is I'll get more information when it's released. Rather than quickly judge it by a demonstration at a press conference. Maybe it's more involved than people are assuming? Point is we don't really know yet.

Bill

Hey Bill,

the point is, we do already know. See, they had this press conference to show off their future products, and when they know they have an audience of millions, they are going to try to present their products in the best possible light. And when whatever we just saw is what they have to show for Wii music, then things aren't looking to good.

Miyamoto gave us an in depth description of the controls. I'd say a description of the controls by the developer of the game is a safe assumption to make. Point is, we do know.

See, I saw the press conference, and I didn't think the description of the controls was all that in depth.  Maybe I didn't read enough into it, maybe you're reading too much.  Either way it doesn't really matter.  All I'm trying to say is I won't pass judgement now, I'll find out more when the game's released.  Besides, "in the best possible light" might be as interpretted by the target audience... which is the media.

I can certainly see that this type of game is not going to appeal to a lot of people.  Personally this looks more interesting to me than Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but that's just a matter of personal taste.

Terrible but it'll sell over 4million copies.

Personally, I think it sounds pretty cool. I'm interested to see what 50 instruments they have and how each one is implemented (especially the piano).

I liked it
