Bad.

I was worried that what MS did during their conference, with banking everything on the XIII megaton announcent, that Nintendo could easily drop 2-3 bombshells that would of negated what MS did (which was give one of the best E3 shows they ever have. Not saying a ton, but they did very good).

They spent 50% of the entire conference talking about the DS/Wii, and not about games. And even then, when they showed the games, they spent half of THAT time talking about how great the Wii/DS was, and not about gameplay mechanics.

For me:

Good:

  • GTA DS was obviously the biggest announcement for gamers.
  • DS functionality. Honestly? It seems that Nintendo is pursuing the DS as a multifunction device just like the PSP has, and it's very interesting. I fly a lot, so the airport stuff is rather neat.
  • 1:1 is obviously a real good thing for Wii owners.

Bad:

  • Total lack of any relevant core titles that are new, or something truely awesome.
  • Far too much focus on casual games. That's not bad, but when 90% of the gametime shown were games targeted to the family...It caters to (at least) me less.
  • Presentation was boring. Again, most of it was how the DS/Wii are doing well in the marketplace, and how women and the elderly buy DSes.

Now, I'm going to say this: Wii Music looks neat. It's not Rock Band, or Guitar Hero, but I could see how the drums mode could be very neat with the balance board.

Overall, I'm going to give Ninteno a 4.5/10 for the conference. The GTA announcement, and DS functionality saved them from a 2/10.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It may be dull to you, but look at it.

Wii Music - should be a huge seller. 6M should be easily possible.

Wii Sports 2 with motion pack - This is essentially a Wii Play I believe. 10M should be possible. If you NEED to buy both, 20M + should be possible.

Grand Theft Auto DS - huge sales is possible. This could also bring more profit to Rockstar than GTA IV, and same them from EA, which you all hate so much.

I can't see it. My gf is the one who loves the Wii but i can't see her paying anymore money on it for those things. It defeats the point of being casual gamer, pay once etc... I can't see Wii Music catching on at all in a market totally owned by Guitar Hero. GTA on DS will be no different then GTA on PSP, it won't sell anywhere near what GTA4 sold.

Wii sports resort (not a sequel) is a game you need a new remote for, again i can't see people like my gf paying for it. If she did it would make her hardcore gamer not casual.

Nintendo knows that the money is in the casuals for them. They aim to win over the mainstream press. Mainstream press doesn't care about games like SSBB or FF13. They want new products and innovation. Something that will make the general public take notice. Still Nintendo should of shown some quick clips of some of their more hardcore games. Maybe they will in the next couple of days. I still say most of the mainstream press will run with the Nintendo news of Motion Plus for the next week.

If i was mainstream press id ask what the hell it is, coz i still don't know what the hell it is.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Wii music was nothin. Guitar Hero kinda stole any glory it had previously. No first party announcements except for 1. I think they rolled out everything wicked in the last year actually.

Pretty poor IMO

Have to say i thought MS conference other then FFXIII announcement was "ok". But this was really bad. I am shocked they had next to nothing, no new Mario games and no new Zelda. All we got was more gimmicks that require you to buy even more hardware to play them. Maybe this will be the bubble bursting for the Wii.

Also did anyone else see the blatent lies about the software? He said the Wii had more titles then 360 and PS3 combined and on the graph the PS3 had more games then the 360.....There is spinning it and then there is BS, and that was BS.

There is no way Sony's conference can be this bad. Surely?

If you look it was in the first 19 months.  ( i.e November 2005 -> June 2007 for the XBOX360)

You people are far too tough to please. Personally, the sword fighting made E3 for me. That's all I ever wanted from the Wii.

Animal Crossing is always fun, and I can't wait to get my hands on Wii Music.

But I really don't need hardcore games on the Wii because I have plenty on my PC. I'm satisfied either way. =D

I wasn't impressed at all either but to me it seems like Nintendo keeps things quiet till it's about to release. It's possible they only had a few games about to pop onto market that they felt like talking about so they just didn't speak of others. To think this is all Nintendo is working on would be.... well retarded. Nintendo has a good number of teams and I'm sure they're not just sitting there picking their noses Nintendos way too frugal for that.

I really still feel like there's something and maybe Nintendo feels that E3 is pretty much Press only now so there was no need to elude to all their projects as they had in the past.

Still sucked pretty bad aside from voice chat animal crossing and motion plus though..

The 1:1 motion controls really saved it. It was a very poorly presented conference though! Geez, the Wii Music demonstration failed really hard, I almost felt sorry for them on the stage.

I wanted to smack cammie!

the highlight of the show was when reggie said

"that's why they call me the regginator"
