Forums - Sony Discussion - the Blu-ray thread, will go on untill hddvds death.

Honestly, if Warner was looking for ANY reason to go Red, then they wouldn't have gone neutral in the first place. They also would've taken the same deal Paramount took in August. However, they didn't, instead making the smart decision of waiting things out, watching how Toshiba's price cuts affected things in the fourth quarter.

Expect a decision one way or another at CES.

Even the neutral players (warner, retailers, etc) think that Blu-ray is probably going to win eventually, the real question for them, is just *when* to support Blu-ray to the exclusion of HD-DVD.

Thanks to kenobi after I got him to ban my old account (dallas) after someone hacked into it and being ok with me coming back under a slightly different username.  I appreciate our communication in the PMs.  Also I want to give a big thank you to vgchartz for being one of the cooler websites around.

Oh, and I'm still the next Michael Pachter

You're basing that on a lot of presumptions, makingmusic. You are assuming you know what Warner is thinking and planning. You don't, therefore, you don't really know Warner is dropping a side anytime soon.

I'm not claiming they will stay neutral, because I admit I don't know.

This week should be interesting. HD-DVD has Bourne and also is finally running a BOGO on amazon and at best-buy. If HD-DVD was ever to win a week, this would be it.

theyve been much better before. amazon is tricky, it tracks box sets at a decent rate since the price is so much different i think it inflate the # of sets people get on amazon, but in general its lousy at predicting software ratios.

Like, when Premonition was released it didnt even crack the top 100 and it STUNK on amazon sales, but was #1 on Nielsen by a large margin. Much of amazon ranking have  alot to do with regular DVD sales as well.....Pirates sold pretty well i think Nielsen pegs it under 100k, VS says 160k, but it didnt come into the top 10 or barely in the top 20 due to Shrek SDVD, pirates versions, harry potters on regular DVD, so the Amazon rankings are at the mercy of regular DVD titles as well.......thats generally why they fluctuate together so so much since its not really the HDM selling differently, its regular DVD jumping up and knocking both HD DVD and BD down equally which is hwy the charts generally flow together....except during sales.

Note those are not the actual units sold. The numbers seem to have some weird system where the top seller gets a hundred. When you look at the numbers in the specific format tables, you see the same thing.

HAHA only 2 of the top 10 are HD DVD! I'd happily buy the new pirates of teh Caribbean on Blu Ray

Great Deal on Blu-ray players for Christmas!

Sony and Samsung have slashed the price of their entry level players by $100 and you can now get them for only $300!!!!!!!! Also, you can get a free copy of Spiderman, which comes in the box and Pirates of the Caribean which comes free also, as well as the 5 free mail in movies offer that Sony Blu-ray players have had.
